"Thank God the "14-year-old" was a detective and not a real girl. (My daughter's 12.)"

What are the odds that this was the first time he's ever done such a thing?

Yeah, this was probably not the first time.

OTOH, the degree to which he compromised his identity is -so- astounding that I have a hard time believing that he was well-versed in criminal ways. The stupid criminals are usually the newbies -- the ones who pay for a store purchase with a personal check or credit card, and then try to hold up the cashier, for example.

Frankly, I'm also very concerned about the degree to which this idiot compromised national security, if he had any sort of DHS-related clearances. Traitors are often compromised by blackmail, and this guy was setting himself up to be blackmailed big-time. I hope the authorities follow up on the possibility that this guy might have been talking to enemy spies posing as 14-year old girls.

Un-frickin'-believable.

This was not stupid. This was disgraceful.

I call it evil. Throw the book at him.

FOX just said the detective posed as young girl recovering from leukemia and that after the perv offered his condolences - he immediately began with the nasties.

I'm not opposed to castrating the offenders. But don't for a moment think that resolves the issue. A pedofile will still prey on children with or without their glands.

There was an ICE agent arrested in Florida for being a sex offender too.

I have read that before - that it's a sick power thing along with just plain perversion. I would not mind routine castration for the pervs - not one bit.

From the article:

"We found his communication still on his computer with our undercover detective," he said. "Had we not been posing as a 14-year-old, Brian Doyle would have been grooming someone, some young lady, for a sexual encounter."

That pretty much clinches it. Send him over to Lorton. They'll know how to handle it.

I tend to disagree. He's done this before and hasn't been caught - so he gets bolder. Finally, he's emboldened to the point of recklessness, all because he hasn't gotten caught yet.

Who vets these people before they are hired to the DHS?

You have hit the seminal question. How well can these people vett anyone if they did not catch this before hiring/promoting this guy?

Who is guarding the guards?

Scott Ritter is useful to the Dems, so therefore, none of them care about his illegal activities or reporting on them.

Pathetic. Who vets these people before they are hired to the DHS? That person should be fired as well.

If he'd never been caught doing this before, there would be no police record to turn up in a background check. Nothing to raise a red flag. OTOH, if he did get caught before, and someone did miss it, then many, many heads should roll.

My guess is that this scumbag has been doing this for many, many years, and since he hadn't been caught, he just started getting more and more brazen and sloppy. Plus he probably got to thinking that "Hey, I'm a high-ranking government official - I can do anything I want!"

Apparently he confessed.

If so, case closed.
