The dark irony of Dr. Pinaka's comfort amongst serpents should be a clarion to us all.

You know, this sounds all to much like the intent of the Envirowacko Villians in Clancey's book RAINBOW-SIX.

Let's hope these fanatics do not create a virus of some sort to do their wishes!

I suggest Dr. Pinaka start by killing himself. Lead by example, buddy.

Well, if "environmental issues" are the only driving question, then yes...humanity should be happy to go back to scattered hunter-gatherer tribes and a life expectancy of about 30 years.

No one could be that crazy.

Indeed, the spirit of Eichmann lives on.

"Figure 1. Dr. Eric R. Pianka and an unidentified woman from the University of Texas at Arlington following a recent speech before the Texas Academy of Science in which Pianka endorsed airborne Ebola as an efficient means for eliminating 90 percent of the world's population. Pianka received an enthusiastic and prolonged standing ovation. Later he received more applause from a banquet hall filled with more than 400 people when the president of the Texas Academy of Science presented him with a plaque naming him 2006 Distinguished Texas Scientist." Individuals such as this sorry case are often possessed. Quite literally, possessed by the devil. The devilish charm his students perceive is additional evidence of this.

I don't share the same view (wishing humanity a painful destruction) but one could easily draw an analogy between humans on earth and bacteria in a petri dish. The bacteria will reproduce geometrically and consume all the resources quickly. When the food runs out, they all die off.

More atheist indoctrination!

I think God has removed all reasoning (common sense) from liberal secularists.

He's not the only lunatic out there:

Another scary idiot who agrees..

He's a radical thinker, that one! I mean, he's basically advocating for the death of all but 10% of the current population! And at the risk of sounding just as radical, I think he's right.

This little sweetheart thinks her granparents have outlived their usefullness ...

It's the harsh reality that many people alive right now should be dead. And even harsher to think that the world would be better off with them dead too. My grandparents, who I love dearly and am so incredibly thankful to know, are honestly being kept alive only through the technology that we have created via medicine. The same goes for the millions of other old folk alive and kicking and will continue to do so for another 5-10 years, using up more resources.

That 90% figure has been floating around for some time. I remember hearing it sometime in the early 90's. And yes, those advocating it are serious. How to do it seems to be the only issue.

How...Malthusian. Didn't Thomas Malthus espouse something similar? Or at least warn about it?

I'm getting the awful feeling with some of the hype and news articles I've read that there are some who want this to happen. Depopulate the earth and rebuild a new society to their liking where, naturally, the survivors will have more control and get all the real estate.

I hope I'm wrong and there isn't a way to make it happen. So many microbiologists have been found dead. Maybe it's miniscule compared to the total number of them and it's just more grist for the conspiracy mill.

There is no doubt in my mind that not only the US, but many other modern countries are going to be burdened with the elderly (third-world countries take care of their own if they are able) who would be the most vulnerable, those and the very young. Actually a pandemic could claim significant numbers from all age groups.

Unlike the 1918 pandemic, we can doubtless develop the means and medications to prevent it or treat it once its onset, but will we? Not if there's not a lot of money to be made by it. That's how cynical I've become.

I don't know if I really think this or not, just thought I'd throw it out there.

We've killed 43 million babies in the past 30 years in the USA. These atheistic secularists are getting the university students ready for the plan to kill the "useless eaters", the sick and elderly who require too many resources for their limited shelf life. Yes, euthanasia is on the horrizon. The baby boomers whose utilitarian philosophy of life reduced the next generations, will be killed by the survivors of the abortion holocaust. Ironic.
