10,000+ ON THE MARCH (illegals say walls won't keep them out)
NY POST ^ | April 2, 2006 | DOUGLAS MONTERO and LORENA MONGELLI

Posted on 04/02/2006 5:43:00 AM PDT by Liz

A roiling sea of immigrants - many of them in the country illegally - and their supporters poured across the Brooklyn Bridge and into Manhattan yesterday to protest what they call "oppressive" reform measures currently under consideration in Congress.

Marchers, waving flags from Mexico, Colombia, Honduras and El Salvador, chanted and carried signs recalling America's roots during the demonstration, organized by state Sen. Ruben Diaz, a Bronx Democrat and native of Puerto Rico.

"That flag on top of the Brooklyn Bridge is symbolic because all these other flags, all these other nations, are covered by the USA," declared Ismael Claudio, 35, also a native Puerto Rican and therefore a U.S. citizen.

In the House, legislation already has passed that would set penalties for anyone who knowingly assists or encourages an illegal immigrant to remain in the country.

The Senate may adopt a broader bill that would be less punitive, create a guest-worker program and open a path to citizenship for the estimated 11M immigrants now in the country without proper papers.

As they trekked over the bridge, demonstrators carried signs proclaiming, "Did the pilgrims need green cards?"

Patricia Urgules, 35, of Ecuador, said......"I came here in search of the American Dream - the dream to be free, to be treated equally," she said. "We only ask for those basic principles this country was founded on."

Construction worker Eduardo Segundo, 40, of Harlem, scoffs at the notion, mentioned by Mayor Bloomberg last week, of a wall on the U.S.-Mexican border.

He recalled sneaking across the border 12 years ago - and said 20 of his and his wife's relatives now live in the United States. ".....The wall that they build will not work. People will just figure out a way to cross."

No problem here in Wyoming. The small population allows them no place to hide.

Well, I am way far north in Maine.  10 minutes from the Canadian border.  They are sneaking in all around up here.  Coming in from Canada.  Of course, not legally through the border entry, but through the woods on both sides.

I see the Border Patrol up and down my road a lot lately.  I have a home security system.  I sure don't need any aliens trying to bunk out in my house.  Parish the thought!

The truly ugly truth of the matter is that none of this would be happening if the Democrats weren't trying to backstab President Bush at every chance they get in this time of war.

Wake up...George Bush is leading this invasion...And when the Dems run the White House starting again in '08, then you can get on the Democrats...It'll be their turn...

Just wait until citizens start taking the law into their own hands because the government will do nothing.

Remember the Patriot Act?

Citizens trying to do something will be labeled as terrorists and the Patriot Act will be used against them.

Ironic, isn't it?

I hate to agree, but our President and Fox are like brothers.

I know it!  It will be used against good, honest and decent Americans.  I'm just a gal, but even I can see that we are headed for trouble.  And now Iran is flexing their muscles against us too.

I guess we just hold on for the ride.  The times they are a changin!

saw this march on TV, there couldn't have been more than 1000 people participating.""

1000 10,000 100,000

What difference does it make?

If they were in invade your property, take your clothes, furniture, food, cars, tools, whatever, whether they "harm" you in the process or not, would it make any difference???

They are INVADING!!! They are not benign. They have been brainwashed and told they have more right to YOUR property than you do.

The concept of EARNING money and purchasing items is almost impossible for a culture that descended from tribes who worshiped the "gods" who provided their sustenance.
The concept of private property is equally foreign to them.
If they "need" it or want it, they think they can just take it.
If you don't think a great number of these invaders are actually "crimmigrants", spend a day in the gallery of your local courtroom. Talk to the cops on a one-to one basis. You will get an earful and an eyeful if you wish to truly educate yourself.
IMO, anyone who thinks we need to keep the doors open and keep losing our identity, schools, jobs, medical care, etc is a bigger part of the problem than they are part of the solution.

In other words, the Mexican government wants veto power over U.S. immigration policy. ":"

What's next? Do we give Iran and OBL veto power over our military policy? Get a grip..
Wake up America....

Or is he just trying to get a handle on it with what little fractured support he has right now.

If the democrats and republicans were fully behind him as should be the case in wartime or during a national crisis this wouldn't even be an issue of discussion much less a point of protest.

I'm not saying he is right, I'm just saying that those that want to benefit from the divisions in this country are out in full force because they see a chance to destroy us.

I understand there is a part of LA in California that NO one speaks English. What's UP with this?"

The white have left the area completely.

The fact that they are making NO attempt to learn English is most telling. They think they don't have to...it is THEIR land.

But they won't be going because they joined a protest. "We all bought dresses, accessories, and we rented a limo and all that," Mayra said. "Now all that money is just going to waste." ""
one of the greatest gifts we give to immigrants and their families is a free public education, and it shows extraordinarily poor judgment for those who have received that gift to walk out on it." ""

All that money is going to waste:
The USA taxpayers who provided that free education are more than tired of THEIR MONEY going to waste. The money these kids spent getting ready to go to a prom dance- in a school they have no business being in- is a drop in the ocean by comparison.
How can we continue to court this mind set in any way as being a future employee or voter?

Sorry 'Patricia', eso no computa y son no es veraz.
Ecuador:
  • Government type: Republic.
  • Legal system: based on civil law system; has not accepted compulsory ICJ jurisdiction
  • Suffrage: 18 years of age; universal, compulsory for literate persons ages 18-65, optional for other eligible voters
  • Executive branch: chief of state: President & Vice President. The president is both the chief of state and head of government
  • Legislative branch: unicameral National Congress
  • Judicial branch: Supreme Court
  • Literacy: total population: 92.5%, male: 94%, female: 91%
  • Economy - overview: Ecuador has substantial petroleum resources, which have accounted for 40% of the country's export earnings and one-fourth of central government budget revenues in recent years.
  • Agriculture - products: bananas, coffee, cocoa, rice, potatoes, manioc (tapioca), plantains, sugarcane; cattle, sheep, pigs, beef, pork, dairy products; balsa wood; fish, shrimp
  • Industries: petroleum, food processing, textiles, wood products, chemicals
Me thinks you should go home and search for the "Ecuadorian Dream". In any case, if you think your country is FUBAR, stay there and FIX IT dam it!

A general strike in America? Won't happen and would take weeks before it was felt and even then, it would hurt the average hourly worker the most."

I disagree that it would takes weeks for it to be felt.
So much moves by truck that within 3 days, there would be chaos. Most people have no more than 2-3 days of food on hand. Grocery stores on every corner have made it all too handy to buy your making for dinner that night based upon your thought process at 2PM that day. No one seems to plan their meals like our parents did.
Everyone has 5 TV's and X-Box stuff and computers. No one has a pantry or a large freezer. Small cars means small gas tanks and no gas for a couple of days would get some attention. Gas is replenished every day by truck. Just because it happens at 2 AM and you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't happening.
I for one, like the idea of a general strike.

I call for the 4th of July as most appropriate, with the 3rd and the 5th as a sandwich.

Any takers????

Great state.
There are serious probmens with Meth next door in Montana. The wide open places and lack of population density is the best friend of a meth cooker. No one to see-hear-smell the meth lab in an old barn, etc.
Stay vigiliant.
