10,000+ ON THE MARCH (illegals say walls won't keep them out)
NY POST ^ | April 2, 2006 | DOUGLAS MONTERO and LORENA MONGELLI

Posted on 04/02/2006 5:43:00 AM PDT by Liz

A roiling sea of immigrants - many of them in the country illegally - and their supporters poured across the Brooklyn Bridge and into Manhattan yesterday to protest what they call "oppressive" reform measures currently under consideration in Congress.

Marchers, waving flags from Mexico, Colombia, Honduras and El Salvador, chanted and carried signs recalling America's roots during the demonstration, organized by state Sen. Ruben Diaz, a Bronx Democrat and native of Puerto Rico.

"That flag on top of the Brooklyn Bridge is symbolic because all these other flags, all these other nations, are covered by the USA," declared Ismael Claudio, 35, also a native Puerto Rican and therefore a U.S. citizen.

In the House, legislation already has passed that would set penalties for anyone who knowingly assists or encourages an illegal immigrant to remain in the country.

The Senate may adopt a broader bill that would be less punitive, create a guest-worker program and open a path to citizenship for the estimated 11M immigrants now in the country without proper papers.

As they trekked over the bridge, demonstrators carried signs proclaiming, "Did the pilgrims need green cards?"

Patricia Urgules, 35, of Ecuador, said......"I came here in search of the American Dream - the dream to be free, to be treated equally," she said. "We only ask for those basic principles this country was founded on."

Construction worker Eduardo Segundo, 40, of Harlem, scoffs at the notion, mentioned by Mayor Bloomberg last week, of a wall on the U.S.-Mexican border.

He recalled sneaking across the border 12 years ago - and said 20 of his and his wife's relatives now live in the United States. ".....The wall that they build will not work. People will just figure out a way to cross."

The Texas drivers license is good for 10 years before renewal. That is almost "never expires". I don't know if this was passed under Bush or not.

10 years??  Good grief.  You are lucky then.  I hate going to the DMV!

I have to check mine.  I think Maine requires renewal every 4 years or 6.  I better check. hehe!

I agreed with his hissy fit. I stopped going there, also, and I probably went there 2 times a week.
This isn't just a recent abberation. Employers should be hammered for these decisions.

That many lunches a day?  The business lost a lot of revenue.  Good for them since they stopped going there.

But it sure is an embarrassment to us to have to put up with people that won't even try to speak English.

Failure to register with Selective Service is a Felony. ...............Good point. Not that illegals respect any US laws.

Now here's another way through the illegal jungle:

If employers who are officers of publicly-held companies are using company assets illegally by employing illegals, they are jeopardizing the investments of partners and shareholders.

The SEC would want to know about it.

I understand there is a part of LA in California that NO one speaks English.

The closest Wal-mart to me is in Panarama city even half the clerk spoke only Spanish

A few years ago, Texas renewals were every 4 years. I don't know the reason for the change, but I have my hunches.

A good dose of fear needs to be applied to these illegals who break our laws with apparent impunity.

If our elected officials don't act, they will be dumped by the voters. The problem is, there will no doubt be violent reaction to these "marchers" that will result in death and destruction around the country. Then, even those law abiding Mexican illegals will pay the price.

I'm sure that this will be a huge victory celebration for them this year. Along with defeating France they have defeated the US government without a shot being fired.

It was a shocking interview and my ears didn't perk up until I heard him say something about how they are all going to go on strike here in the U.S. and make us realize how much we need them.

May 5th, huh?  I will have to circle that date on my calendar so I can keep better watch.

I still like us using OUR INDEPENDANCE DAY for a serious shutdown.

I don't know what the answer is.  But something has to be done before we are all wearing black sheets  and/or working for them.  I can't say what I really want to.  You get my drift, though, I am sure.

Why not just annex Mexico, make it into a protectorate? Most Mexicans want to live in America, why don't we just bring America to Mexico?

I'm talking about doing it in stages, first as a protectorate under the governance of an administrator, then, as quality of life conditions get up to our standards, gradually let them apply for statehood. The Mexicans would probably welcome the opportunity to transform their country. That way, we could control both sides of the border, and more strictly regulate immigration in the short term.

Annex Mexico, as I've described below. That will definitely work.

I think it's scheduled for May 5th. which is Cinco De Mayo.

That's been a day for avoiding downtown Los Angeles for several years now.

I didn't mean to sound stupid. But I am just amazed. How did this get so far out of hand?

How did this get so far out of hand?

When Proposition 187 was blocked by the Rats and RINOs, it acted as a green light. The flow became a flood.

probably all in one room with half a bath and a hot plate.

Or in recently rehabilitated federally subsidized HUD housing.
