What Can We Do About the Invasion of Our Country by Illegal Aliens?
Self | April 2, 2006 | Supernatural

Posted on 04/02/2006 5:03:54 AM PDT by Supernatural

This thread is meant to be a discussion on what we, the citizens of the United States, can do to make our politicians aware that we are fed up with the invasion of our country by illegal aliens. How can we fight back? What are our options? Which options have the best chance of working?

We have a chance to put some pressure on our elected representatives because this is an election year. The only real weapon we have to use against our representatives is our vote.

There has been some discussion as to what we might be able to do on several other threads. Some ideas suggested were:

A national rally and march to be held at some future date in Washington, D.C. that should be done before our legislators pass any new bill concerning the illegal aliens.

A campaign to send postcards informing our representatives on our feelings about the illegal aliens.

Make telephone calls to our representatives' offices.

Some other options:

Rallys and marches in several main locations around the country on the same day, such as in Washington, D.C., a city in Texas and a city in California.

Rallys and marches in many cities around the country on the same day.

A petition campaign where volunteers gather signatures of registered voters and forward the petitions to our representatives.

In addition to what I have here, FReepers are encouraged to add their own ideas or to pick the plan that they think will work the best. Discuss the advantages and drawbacks of any plan.

I think the rally and march ideas will be the hardest plan to execute. Permits will be required which would not be that much of a problem. Enlisting guest speakers, getting P.A. equipment together, paying for sanitation facilities (portapotties), paying for cleanup and paying for insurance and security make this the most difficult option. Travel and lodging make this option somewhat time consuming and expensive. There is also the possibility of violence being instigated by the other side.

I favor a petition campain. Here is why and here is how I think we could work it.

Many on FR would be willing to send in a postcard. But if friends, acquantinces and co-workers are approached about sending their representative a postcard many simply would not bother to do it. Too much work for them.

It would be much easier to get them to sign their names and addresses on a petition. It is something that they could do immediately.

If each interested person on FR could print up a petition and get 20 signatures on it and send it in that could mean a lot of signatures.

If each interested person on FR could get 20 signatures on a petition and pass out other petitions to his friends and other interested people to get 20 signatures on, that would be a lot more signatures. The FReeper could collect all the petitions from his friends and others and send them all in at once.

We need some ideas on how the petition should be worded. Most of us have printers and we can print our own petitions.

In addition to the petition, FReepers could be encouraged to call and to write their representatives. Let them know that we mean business.

Please discuss any ideas you have on this thread. What do you think is the best idea or combination of ideas? Do you have any ideas to add?

We need to generate an offense, so let's roll!

Oh, 20 was only a suggestion.

Ten is far better than none.

Five is far better than none.

One is better than none.

If we close the borders and restrict illegals it will be devastating to the economy. Think Agriculture, Construction, Hotel and Motel and Restaurants.

McCain...is that you!!

I work in the automotive manufacturing industry as a tier 1 supplier to many car companies.

Our division is in a struggle for survival right now. We can hardly compete with even our Canadian divisions as far as profitability is concerned because of one issue; employee benefits and wages.

As our division tries to stay afloat even though our efficiencies are very good the next target to reduce costs is labor (big shock). The reality of the situation is that if aliens on a temporary worker program were brought in to replace the hourly production workers we would be making a substantial profit overnight.

How do American workers avoid being replaced by cheap foreign or domestic labor is a huge part of the illegal immigrant issue.

Your ideas are all excellent!

Like you imply, getting the politicians to act on solutions is the problem.

How would you suggest that we get that job done?

See my post #43. It agrees with what you say.

Factories are moved out of the country to take advantage of cheap labor and cheap labor is moved into the country to take the rest of our jobs.

Sounds like a well planned, highly orchastrated plot to destroy the working class in this country and turn us into another third world nation.

The question, as you say, is what are we going to do about it and how?

Those are the questions I started this thread with.

The question of how we stop our jobs from being replaced by cheaper labor is a tough one. Offering your labor to a business is just like anything else being marketed; skills and services must be necessary, reasonably priced and fit positively into the company's profit margin.

This brings up a lot of questions...are American workers, American businesses or both too greedy? Should American workers, businesses or both evaluate their spending habits; ie what they do with their money? Should both workers and businesses put more focus on financial conservativeness instead of material wealth?

I think big changes need to occur in both the business and worker mentality before we come anywhere close to truly protecting American jobs from being replaced by domestic or foreign cheap labor.

I don't believe post cards, emails or hand delivered letters will get it...What do we do??? Threaten to vote them out??? They know they will just be replaced by clones of themselves...

The mexicans are rallying...Nationwide...And they don't have to bus people anywhere...That's because they are united in their stand...

Until Americans get that united, we'd have to bus the same people all over the country to be noticed...

We're used to having the gov't take care of us...It's going to be very uncomfortable to fight this thing...Not many people want to get that uncomfortable...'Let the gov't do it'...Problem is, the gov't is on THEIR side...

Americans will have to get united and be visable...

The only realistic assessment. However, we are a long way from 'citizen participation!' Typically things will drift on until it becomes intolerable at which time only a few will act-(generally 2%-5% of the population).

Note that we didn't have this problem when the only jobs the "migrant workers" did was to pick fruit and vegetables.

Then the "migrant workers" became many more and they started taking construction jobs that required more heavy labor than they required thinking.

Now it has become a flood of migrant workers putting Americans out of work in many areas of business.

I guess enough Americans haven't lost their jobs to illegals yet to put up too much of a fuss. But we are getting there, more and more every day.

Yes, the illegals are more loyal to their cause and more organized than the American citizens are.

Too many are content to watch their country being flushed down the toilet.

But their own ox hasn't been gored yet; that is, their job hasn't been taken over by an illegal willing to work for far less than they are.

It WILL reach that point. And by then it will be too late to do anything, if it is not too late already.

I have spent some time thinking about this *devastation* to the economy.

Here is what I came up with:

Agriculture: plant a Victory Garden. Cook and bake from scratch. You will have to purchase some factory products, like flour, but you can cut down the contribution. You can form or join a buying club to cut the cost even further while buying in bulk. Band together and find small farmers who will raise and butcher a beef, some chickens, etc as a Community Supported Agriculture enterprise. This is done commonly in rural areas. I have seen Rent a Cow enterprises, as well. It isn't hard to skim cream or even pasteurize your own milk. Making small amounts of butter or farmers cheese isn't hard, either.

Construction: Do it yourself. Hire your own workers who are American citizens. Buy a building that is already built, in an area with the least amount of illegals and do improvements over time.

Hotel, Motel and Restaurants:
Stay home. Buy a motor home or small camper and camp. If you have to travel, stay with friends and family. Pack some homemade jerky and crackers if you have to drive somewhere. If you absolutely must travel, keep it to a minimum and avoid the high immigrant areas, if at all possible.

Encourage your kids to work at some of the undesirable jobs, even for minimum wage. Withhold allowances so they will have incentives. A summer or two picking crops or cleaning motel rooms or working at the *dirty jobs* will not hurt anyone. My son harvested tobacco, picked apples, worked in a recycling plant and his wife cleaned motel rooms when they were in college and in the first few months after graduation until they found good jobs. Today, he is self employed and she works for a small company that hires Americans. Siblings put themselves through med school hauling garbage cans out of the dormitory cafeterias. I have sewn clothing for people out of my home. My husband worked in commercial kitchens and box and shoe factories, as well as learning to silver solder in a factory that made snowmobiles. Our income was low, but we are all doing just fine today with the skills we acquired.

Where I live, migrants, some of whom are illegals, pick apples, produce and work in Libby warehouses. These are jobs American students used to do. The meat packers are the biggest employers of illegals. The large dairies are the second biggest employers of same. Not all these jobs are done by illegals. Some are done by citizens or by migrants who have work cards. There are Mexican construction workers and there are American construction workers. There is a choice, still. Hotels, motels and restaurants are still staffed by American citizens. It is totally possible to keep these segments full of Americans or legal workers. All it takes is will. Even now, I see that 85% of all ag workers are legal.

What would happen if huge developments were stopped until this mess is cleared up? It might delay some profits for some NYSE companies and commercial real estate tycoons.

Would it really harm anyone to not eat out for an entire year? Could we find small restaurants that are sole proprietorships and who employ legal workers? Could we avoid traveling to where illegals are most likely employed to do service jobs? We could vacation in the American Heartland for a year. Could we avoid purchasing Big Ag products for a year? Could we postpone building a McMansion? Just because the construction worker is paid less, the contractor doesn't charge less, because his profit remains the same or increases.

If a portion of Americans boycotting French products put some pressure on France, what would happen if those same Americans put pressure on American business? We would need some way to let employers know what we were doing. How long before "We only hire legal citizens at a fair wage" signs began appearing?

I am in business. Between my husband and myself, we have two business, one service, one manufacturing. We have both been self-employed for decades. I understand economics and business owners will bow to economic pressure. If everyone did as much of the above as is feasible, it could have an effect.

While YMMV, the alternative is losing our country. Personally, I would take a year of being conscious about my economic behavior over living in an anarchic state with no citizen guarantees or no sovereignty. As a bonus, I wonder how much this sort of behavior would revitalize the American economy? Americans invented DIY.

I saw your thread with the phone numbers and other info and I am going to turn in a local company that installs swimming pools when their business starts picking up this spring.

If the "proper authorities" had been enforcing the law all along like they were supposed to we wouldn't be in the mess we are in now.

Who do you suppose told the government agencies to ignore the law and leave the illegals alone?

It's not being done without the President knowing. He needs to step up.

Besides turning in the swimming pool company, let his honest competition know they can turn him in also. They probably can also turn him in to the state's contractor license board. Before turning them in, you might call and warn them what is about to happen and you will give them 30 days to solve the problem.

According to the swimming pool companies brother-in-law, who is my neighbor, the guy has had illegals working for him for 14 years now.

No chances for him. He's gotten away with it for far too long.

"I guess enough Americans haven't lost their jobs to illegals yet to put up too much of a fuss. But we are getting there, more and more every day."

Right on the head.

Until Americans are faced first hand with tragedy most will not look farther ahead than the tip of their nose.

Most people don't take action based on principle; they take action based on needs or wants. Unfortunately our needs have become so polluted with our wants that we cannot wisely separate the two any longer. This scenario ranks right up there with an addiction to drugs. Until we can learn as a nation to be fiscally responsible both business and workers will be victims of the addiction to and mismanagement of material wealth.

It reminds me of the guy that wins the lottery and then files bankruptcy two years later; mismanagement of wealth trumps the wealth itself.

The disturbing question; have we as a nation become too lazy and unwise to recover?

*** I sent "pink slips" on Saturday to 53 California Congressmen and 2 Senators.
*** I made labels from a list that I can copy for further mailings. (This took about an hour)
*** I took 8 1/2 X 11 fuscia card stock and printed four messages on each.
*** Then I stuck a stamp on each and MAILED them.
