Yeah but most of those kidnapped by the terrorists are dead no matter what they say or do. Begging just makes for a more enjoyable video for the jihadists.

Daniel Pearl was Jewish. The Jews, traditionally, have always tried to see the other side because of their religion. How do you think palis got the west bank? Jews trying to do what is right.

Thats my point. Jill..just some chit wearing a veil feeling all righteous..

Keep waiting. I still have my suspicions.

Ditto. Still a whiff of something fowl here.

We'll know if the MSM keeps "pushing" her story. If she takes their side, she'll be on Oprah, Larry King, Today, Bill Maher, etc faster than a liberal can raise taxes.

If she doesn't start showing up there, then maybe she's on the up and up.

More than one Italian has bravely died waving his penis at his tormenters.

Someday they're going to figure this out.

It isn't very complicated.

If you want to be a reporter in another country you have to dress like the locals. You have to blend in to get access to people and locations to actually observe what is going on.

As far as "ceremonial dress" goes, there are traditionalist Christian churches here that believe their women should cover their head while worshiping. Don't Amish women generally cover their heads in public?

Hardly a strawman argument.

Clothes are clothes ~ Western women are correctly dressed only in hiphuggers. Eastern women still wear dresses and gowns.

A lot of this depends on the thoroughness of the surgeons to repair damage wrought during childbirth in less advanced countries.

Ever hear of a 3rd degree episiotomy?

What a terrible experience. Apparently she made her earlier statements out of fear. As long as she was in Iraq she was frightened of her captors, and who can blame her?

I think we should all have compassion on her and let this go.

How does one's religion make you see the other side?

St. Paul, in I Cor. 1-l: 24, tells women to cover their hair in church.

I have to laugh at posters who, from the comfort of their homes, find joy in criticising the statements of a 28yo young woman which were either made while in captivity, or shortly thereafter while still in country -- after having been held by subhuman monsters who frequently remove the heads from their captives with butcher knives. Talk about Monday morning quarterbacking.

at the Air Force Academy they tought us in POW training to say such if it meant the difference between life and death

Indeed...many of our brave men and women are trained to say what it takes to stay alive and get free. Why do some FReepers hold her to a higher standard than the brave men and women in our military? I don't get it.

She isn't/wasn't in the military. She's not under the same speech constraints regarding loyalty to the U.S. AND she's a woman.

What do people expect her to do? Advertise that she wants to be raped? Cut her some slack here.

IMHO, Jill got daddied up. He had a long talk with her over the phone and told her, her rhetoric wasn't jiving with the American public and she better do a complete 360 and that's exactly what she did.

Why did she refuse to debrief with the U.S. Military? She could have given them some valuable info, but she deliberately chose not to.

Why is it you are so impatient for this rather plain looking woman to strip?

0I heard the silly cow said that she still believed that the war to be 'illegal.'

For the love of pete, can somebody tell me how any person might actually believe that to be true?

Is there any such thing as illegal war?

I'm no political scientist, but we as a sovreign nation declared war on Iraq, long ago. In 1991, as I understand it there was only a cease fire, no actual armistice. And so 2003 only saw the resumption of hostilities.
