Congresswoman [McKinney] Accuses Capitol Police Officer of Racial Bias
New York Times ^ | April 1, 2006 | Carl Hulse

Representative Cynthia A. McKinney and her legal advisers blamed racial bias Friday for her run-in with a Capitol police officer as the incident ballooned into a political furor.

At a news conference at Howard University, Ms. McKinney, a Georgia Democrat, said her physical altercation with the unidentified officer, who was screening visitors to a House office building on Wednesday, was the officer's fault.

"Let me be clear," Ms. McKinney said, surrounded by supporters at the historically black university. "This whole incident was instigated by the inappropriate touching and stopping of me, a female black congresswoman. I deeply regret this incident occurred, and I am certain that after a full review of the facts, I will be exonerated."

One of her lawyers, James Myart, said the case typified a pattern of police harassment of black Americans. "My belief is this is no different than that: 'they all look alike,' " he said.

The encounter took place at a checkpoint to a building across Independence Avenue from the Capitol. According to accounts by police officers and Congressional officials, Ms. McKinney went around one of the metal detectors that are at the entrances and staffed by the police. The officer reportedly told her to stop, and when she did not he apparently tried to stop her, provoking a physical response from Ms. McKinney. Members of Congress are allowed to sidestep the metal detectors.

Ms. McKinney acknowledged that she had not been wearing the lapel pin that would have identified her as a member of Congress. But she said the police responsible for protecting lawmakers should recognize them on sight.

Mr. Myart, the lawyer, said Ms. McKinney was exploring her legal options and would pursue a criminal investigation against the officer.

C'mon, anybody with common sense recognizes the cops weren't racist. Most of DC is black already. Now they might have been prejudiced against anybody behaving as a B**ch.

Just another case of,"rights without responsibility"!The problem with minorities is that they think America stands behind them but the real fact is,America is sick of hearing about these made up accusations.

Something tells me the officer isn't going to apologize. If he was going to he probably already would have. I could be wrong but I think the Capitol Police are going to pursue this. They've gotten some bad press lately and now this happens. It's clear to most everyone that she was wrong and the officer was just doing his job as he is supposed to.

People who embrace the truth don't buy it... but that's a minority today.

The Psychiatric term for her disability is Black Muvva Dey be Pickin' on me Simpleton Complex 101"

It is a mental malady that usually shows up in the adolescent black community after years of being told by parents and other racists that Whitey is responsible for all faults and slights blacks may incur. With some it is just a passing contamination that can be outgrown, unfortunately for some it permanently damages the thinking part of the brain, leading to a lifetime of stupid racist statements and even more stupid actions. IMO about 2/3rds of the CBC is suffering from this terrible disease.

Jesse Jackson. Al Sharpton , Danny Glover, Whooopi Goldberg ,Harry Belafonte, and Calypso Louie are the major modern carriers of this disease and should be isolated immediately in order for Black people to become more successful at recovery, and able to take their rightful place in a world where everyone can be all they can be no matter what color.
IMO perhaps a serum could be made that could further the black race if Dr. Rice, Bill Cosby, and others who have beaten this dread disease were to donate blood to science for the purpose of creating this vaccine against ignorance.

She's the one making it an issue!!! Not the Cap Police, only the looniest in the media and those who make their living playing the race card.

In a draft of a statement McKinney did not release, she said the officer "body-blocked" her during the incident, and she blamed his failure to recognize her on a recent makeover. From today's Seattletimes...

"It is ... a shame that while I conduct the country's business, I have to stop and call the police to tell them that I've changed my hairstyle so that I'm not harassed at work," McKinney said in the draft posted on WSB-TV of Atlanta's Web site. An official close to McKinney said the statement was a "work product" never intended to be released. Notice THIS statement was not intended for release!

My recommendation to her is, "Yeah, if you look like you have just stuck your finger in a light socket while standing in a pool of water and then kept it there until you got that lovely deep-fried do that Buckwheat would have killed for...don't be surprised if you need to give a heads up to the Capitol guards on your new "hairstyle"!

McKinney Escalates Rhetoric over Tiff with Capitol Police
U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-Ga) faces possible criminal charges for an assault on a Capitol Police officer. Ahmad Johnson, one of her lawyers now claims that McKinney acted in self-defense. “Ms. McKinney was singled out because she is Black,” said Johnson. “Whites have a history of raping Black women. Thomas Jefferson did it. My client had every reason to fear the fondling hands of this so-called security guard.”

Of course she believes people are buying this crap. Look at who she surrounds herself with!!! When all you do is listen to people who believe this way, you begin to think everyone else does too.

What's really bad is her father is worse than she is!!

She had a lapel pin that allows her to bypass security. She DID NOT WEAR IT and therefore had no right to bypass security. That is the only sterotyping involved. Her faul for not having ID pin and essentially running a security check. Quite frankly, she is lucky their stopped her with something other than a bullet in the back.

She is just saying this so she will still get reelected even though she looses the court case.

How in the Hell did this woman ever make it into Congress? Can you imagine the outrage from the Left if Tom DeLay had done this? This is beyond sickening; Georgians in her district need to recall this loser ASAP.

Can you really blame The Left for assuming all voters are total idiots? Look who they elected.

Im stunned, really stunned. But not as worried, that statement alone should be enough to bury her..

"Representative Cynthia A. McKinney and her legal advisers blamed racial bias ..."

And God is racially biased because Hurricane Katrina flooded New Orleans, and George Bush is racially biased for allowing God to do it, and whitey is to blame for half of black children not having a father present in the home, et cetera, ad nauseum.

Don't know if that statement will bury her, but let's hope that House Minority "Leader" Bella Pelosi (aka Botox Nancy) will be sufficiently concerned and will take her aside and counsel her to stop making an idiot of herself.
