It is this reporter's opinion that it is time to set the record straight for the misinformed Mexican illegal aliens and troublemaking Latino activists who call my Talk Back radio program monotonously.
They repeat for the millionth time the tired worn-out lie that "America stole the seven southwestern states from Mexico. This is our land, gringo, and we are taking it back!"
WRONG!
Here are the facts: Texans fought for and won independence from Mexico on April 26, 1836 following its victory over the Mexicans at the Battle of San Jacinto.
Nine years later, in December of 1845, the U.S. annexed the Texas republic. Congress sent General Zachary Taylor to Texas to protect its border with Mexico.
Mexico claimed the Rio Grande River as "their territory." After a series of attacks and clashes with Mexican troops inside the Texas territory, Congress declared war on Mexico May 13, 1846.
Hostilities continued for two years as General Taylor Scott led American troops to engage Mexican forces in New Mexico, California, and deep into Mexico. Mexico City was captured by General Scott in August of 1847.
February 2, 1848 Mexican officials and U.S. representatives signed a peace treaty known as "THE TREATY OF GUADALUPE HIDALGO."
The provisions of that treaty called for Mexico to cede to the U.S. 55 percent of its territory (that is present day Arizona, California, New Mexico, Texas and parts of Colorado, Nevada and Utah) - this in exchange for $15-18 million in compensation for war-related damage to Mexican property.
The U.S. Senate ratification of the treaty, U.S. forces then left Mexico City.
There you have it. There are the facts. Either accept the facts or continue living a lie. The U.S. did not steal anything from Mexico; the former Mexican territory was won by the blood of young Americans like the ones who fought World Wars I and II, Korea, Vietnam, and are now engaged in Iraq. The seven southwestern states are American land, not "their land."
This despite what the pro-Mexican and Hispanic racist groups like La Raza, Aztlan, Lulac and La Mecha teach their uninformed young Spanish-speaking students in our own American public schools. Shame, shame, shame!
It is exactly how Adolf Hitler indoctrinated his people to kill anyone who opposed the German view of the world as he shouted, "Deutschland Uber Alles lebersraum!" (Germany over all and living room!). This is KKK American Nazi or Black Panther talk. As Sgt. Friday said, "Just the facts, ma'am... just the facts."

Somebody needs to point out to the mexicans that the only war they ever won was against the french. Ha. We should never have given them back anything north of Mexico City.
Unfortunately, there are far too many "guilt ridden for nothing" Liberal Americans that just can't wait to swallow that goofy garbage, hook, line and sinker!!! We dare not let them get elected to higher office!!!

Thank you both for the posts, very informative. I hope these radical Mexican groups will realize the futility of their claims and back off. They surely understand that the United States is not going to cede one square inch of our country and the path they're taking can only lead to bloodshed.
If you ever run into one of these You-Stole-From-Us types, ask them what the L did they ever do with the land we let them keep?
After the 1847 war the land looked the same on both sides of the border. We turned ours into a vibrant and wealth-producing property. They turned theirs into a corrupt violence-ridden Hellhole that forces their own people to flee to the U.S.
If they ever got back that "stolen" land, how long would it take them to repeat what they did to Mexico?
This is what happens when US History is taught. They are changing History as they see it in our schools. Our History has bad thing in it but you can't change it. It happened and it's History. I blame our schools for most part for not teaching true History in schools. And not just this part but all parts of American History.

This is also the rationale used by islamofascists to incite their followers to rage over Israel. The truth is, most muslims lands were once christian or jewish or other.

In my opinion, because of illegal immigration our country could now be on the brink of civil war. Yes, I know it is not considered civil war when a country is invaded by a horde of foreign barbarians as our country has been invaded. But what could trigger civil war will be when this horde of invaders join politically with the Democrat Party, and they will. The Democrat Party, already a loose coalition of anti-American leftists; socialists; criminals; perverts; abortionists; race baiters; pseudo intellectual elitists; and the feeble minded, will become the majority political party in this country if they can assimilate 12-20 million illegal aliens into their party.
If the productive segment of our population allows itself to be controlled politically by the unproductive segment, then this country will simply cease to exist. There are far too many American patriots still alive in this country to allow this to happen, so civil war could be in our future.
The only thing that could prevent this from happening is our current Republican controlled Congress and the Bush Administration, but fear of “The Hispanic Vote” prevents them from doing what must be done if this country is to be saved. Do they really think there are any Republicans among the infiltrators sneaking across our southern border?
There is currently a very narrow window of opportunity available for our elected leaders to seal our borders, remove the illegals from among us, and control who enters our country. Once illegals unite with Democrats, it will be too late.
