SARAJEVO, April 1 (Reuters) - Official symbols adopted by Bosnia's main ethnic groups are to be abolished following a ruling by the former Yugoslav republic's top court. The symbols introduced after the 1992-95 Bosnian war in the country's two semi-autonomous regions were discriminatory because each ethnic group should enjoy equality in all areas of the country, according to a decision by the Constitutional Court published late on Friday.
The ruling means the Muslim-Croat federation and the Serb Republic must change their laws on their coat of arms, flag and anthem in the next six months. Serbs have a coat of arms with a double-headed eagle and four letters standing for "Only Unity Saves the Serbs", while Bosnians traditionally use a lily pattern and Croats have a red and white checkerboard design. "The constitutional court deems that Muslims and Croats in the federation and Serbs in the Serb Republic have a legitimate right to preserve their traditions, culture and identity but the same right should be granted to Serbs in the federation and Muslims and Croats in the Serb Republic," the court said.
The decision followed a complaint by Bosnian Muslim leader Sulejman Tihic that the symbols violated European conventions on human rights. Bosnian Serb leader Dragan Cavic said Serbs would see the ruling as "one of a series of attacks on everything that defines the Serb Republic, its symbols and people".
More insanity from the perpetually offended throat slashers.
Multiculurism will destroy them again.
I read today that the American flag is being banned from schools in Longmont Co. Coming soon to a nation near you.
