The media's gotten into a frenzy about what allegedly has gone on in Durham without waiting for the facts to come out. If there's sufficient evidence that any member of the lacrosse team raped anyone, that person should be thrown in prison for as long as the law would allow. But there's no proof of that - yet. Here's the
best quote from the DA I've seen so far:
"And one would wonder why one needs an attorney if one was not charged and had not done anything wrong."
Innocent or not, if you're under criminal investigation, you're foolish if you don't hire a lawyer. It doesn't take much for a biased DA to indict a ham sandwich. Ask Ronnie Earle.

"And one would wonder why one needs an attorney if one was not charged and had not done anything wrong."Maybe it was because the DA was all over TV talking about the 46 players on the lacrosse team possibly being guilty of rape and attack?

If I was innocent, I wouldn't hire an attorney. I also wouldn't talk to the cops, either. I'd simply say I didn't do anything and to get off my property unless they had a search warrant or an arrest warrant. Wouldn't submit to a DNA test either without a legally valid warrant.
If i witnessed a crime, I would have stopped it if possible.

The last thing a DA wants is for a suspect to "Lawyer-up". Many DAs are not interested in justice, only convictions and conviction rates that advance their political ambitions.

Exactly - and when you've got an overzealous DA going after 46 people for a crime only 3 of them may have committed, hiring a lawyer is the smartest thing they could do.
Ronnie Earl wouldn't agree and that's a good reason why I'd be on the phone with a lawyer ASAP.
