Ah but if they got into his violating his oath of office....

they could have traction there.

"Incredible disrepect."

If the Repubs lose the house and senate these aholes will make his last two years pure hell.

I believe that as we get closer to the elections people will realize that a vote for a party that represents 95% of your values will be more attractive than one that represents none of them.

I may be wrong, but I hope not.

I'm not cheering a team. So if you wnsist you wouldn't cheer a terrorist attack, then please don't accuse me of cheering on a party or a man because I don't agree with your reckless approach to things.

It's not all about smaller government.

I wish we had the luxury to really be pissing and moaning about such things. I don't care for everything the GOP does. Heck, I'll vote for a conservative Dem over a New England Pubbie any day. But there is still a HUGE difference between these two parties - especially when I look at my two small children and wonder if they'll grow up to realize what peace is.

If some one-hit wonders that griped constantly about Topic X that makes them hate Pubbies/Bush/Jenna/whatever would also give credit where it's due, people like me may be inclined to take them more seriously.

Don't like the GOP? Fine. Ask yourself if you like lower taxes, John Roberts and Sam Alito. Now ask yourself who President [favorite liberal] will nominate for the next vacancy, and where Speaker Pelosi will look for her next source of revenue to "fix things for the children."

And remember, if you got a tax cut, then you're rich. Can't tell you how surprised I was to learn that. :-)

If the Republicans go down to defeat in 2006 and 2008 it won't be because of my vote. I will still vote Republican. Will never vote for a Democrat nor for a third party candidate..
I've made some harsh statements on FR about immigration and other issues but when it comes to voting I will still
vote Republican.

Stolen from the AM page (I can do that now that we're mods.) ;-P

The history of "Zot".

There are one or two individuals who, for whatever reason, enjoy signing up new accounts here every single day to post leftist drivel. Sometimes they are vanities from DemocraticUnderground. Sometimes they are articles from other far-left sources. Sometimes they are nothing but vile doctored images or profanity laced tirades. Sometimes they are from legitimate sources but happen to strike the eye of the poster as being something that would infuriate conservatives.

The posters in question always post the articles, and then don't reply. They then post other articles, again not replying. This was going on for months. Jim would confirm by looking at the IP addresses and other aspects of the user's 'footprint' that it was the returning troll, and we would nuke the accounts. This went on for months.

Then some of the opportunists who wanted to harm the forum started a whispering campaign, complaining about articles being deleted. They would play off of the fact that the trolls' articles were being pulled to complain that there was some sort of agenda of squelching legitimate conservative postings going on by the moderators.

One day I decided to try something new. I decided, instead of letting the trolls get what they want and have their posts up as flame bait, and instead of pulling the threads outright, I would move their post aside and replace it with something that hopefully others would find humorous. I would do this out in the forum for all to see. The original piece would be available through the history link for the curious, who could see if there was some sort of censorship campaign going on. And the freepers could have fun mocking the troll if they so liked.

It so happens that the way I did it the first time was using a screen shot from Caddyshack, where the pastor gets hit by a lightning bolt. Being a bit of a fan of the comic strip "B.C." I captioned the photo with the lightning bolt sound that Johnny Hart used in his strip- ZOT! That is where the term Zot originated.

Now, sometimes we "zot", and sometimes we simply pull it. It depends on a number of factors, including how busy we are at the time. But whenever you see a Zot, you can be sure that the user was a 'newbie' who was doing their hit-and-run posting, and that if you as a well-established freeper thought the article would have made an interesting discussion, then you could probably post the same piece yourself without incident (although the most vile of the stuff probably would get pulled, and Jim reserves the right to remove anyone who he feels is constantly trying to push leftist propaganda on the forum). Anyway, that is the history and background behind zotting.

I concede this point. My apologies.

I guess my major issues are the tossing out of unconstitutional law and the shrinking of government. So you can see why I'm a little jaded with the Republican party and their election year tactics.

We disagree on the role of third parties. You can argue that third parties earned us 8 years of klintoon, and you would be correct. I could argue that third parties earned us 1994 and lawmakers who were then truly concerned about shrinking government. That would be correct as well.

Most of the people on this site who want him impeached fall into one of three categories.

I concur. At first I was concerned, but in the end I believe they are fueling the hopes of our opponents on the left. That is a good thing, because there is virtually nothing better than an overconfident opponent.

So God bless the disruptors, the Brigades and the DU/DKs. They may help us win this thing after all.

Hey, I love third parties, seriously! I've voted Independent on more than one occasion. Unfortunately one of those was as you mentioned, and I do carry a portion of blame (guilt!) for indirectly putting the Impeached Rapist into office.

My issue this election really isn't about third parties directly (but of course it factors in). If the Dems have significant gains in November, they'll take it as a supreme endorsement to continue their character assassination, troop assaults/sell-outs, appeasement, and far-left social policies. Now if you could convince me that we could elect some solid conservative independents, with the Pubbies coming in second and the Dems a supremely distant third I'd say we have a plan! :-} [sigh]

Go for it Dems

Every Dem I know that I've mentioned this to thinks it's a stupid idea

Also might explain why the only Dems to show up at today's hearing was Feingold and Leaky

You voted Perot? That was my first vote right after I turned 18. I was young and stupid, but I liked the guy at the time. Of course, I did something then that I would never do now : I voted for him purely because he was a character, and I didn't really understand any of the pertinent issues of the day. Clinton looked slimy, GHW Bush looked fake, and Perot looked like he would shake things up. So my vote went for him. I even took one of his election signs as a souvenir. Still have it, I believe, at my parents' house somewhere.

It is also safe to argue that third parties (Nader) put Bush in the WH in 2000 (see Florida). So, they are not to be taken for granted. They can have a nice membership drive over the immigration issue, Iraq, deficits, and those opposed to the Patriot Act. My best friend who was normally a reliable Republican has gone off the deep end with hatred for Bush. He got mixed up with certain voices claiming to be Libertarian and has joined the Kooks. It is scary to listen to him. If he could go kazoo, who else is heading that way? All I hear from him is "Neo-con Bush" etc. I confess I don't even know what a neo-con is. I support the Iraq War and ouster of Hussein, the appointments to the USSC, most of the cabinet appointments, and definitely the tax cut. For me, Bush is batting about .667. But this ain't baseball. In Texas we are really concerned about the illegals and what is to be done about them. In particular, San Antonio has a HUGE Hispanic population that really does for the most part vote Republican (at least north of town). I'd hate to lose that vote come November. And, I cannot imagine a President Skankles in 2008. The only saving grace would be Rush would have a great time.

Yup. I voted all the time, but was not particularly knowledgeable about politics. And I was tired of the GOP and Dem bickering (which was weak compared to nowadays), so a credible third-party candidate intrigued me. But in hindsight I wouldn't have done it, because it benefitted the sleazeball.

I liked the tax cuts, the ouster of Hussein, and a new government for Afghanistan. But I have to admit I'm with your friend on the patriot act. It gave the government powers it had wanted for years and was just waiting for the right time to ask for again. Reading that thing carefully and realizing the potential for abuse was one of my first steps away from major parties. But I'm not trying to threadjack this into another all out patriot act "it violates the Constitution, no it doesn't" mudslinging fest. I'm just stating my personal opinion on the issue.

"Can't say the RINOcrats haven't been warned. Socialism is beating on the door."

You have that right. These weak, spineless Rino's are only interested in public opinion polls, not in doing what's right for the nation and their supporters. Back stabbers is all they are.

They don't realize that the left is not going to vote for them, no matter how hard left they swing. All they are doing is alienating their voting base. I'd sooner sit at home than vote for a back stabbing rino. It's time to get rid of them, even if it hurts a little.

"If the democrats get in charge of both houses of Congress, they will cause all kinds of hell, count on it. If they get both, you can bet your last bottom dollar that they will do everything in their power to pay back for Clinton, everything! If you do not believe that, that is your business. But, I firmly believe that ANY democrat is an enemy of this Republic, period! I have no democrat friends. I don't like democrats. I voted for a republican candidate for sheriff in my home county against my first cousin because my cousin ran as as stinking democrat. I told him the very reason I was voting against him was because he was a stinking democrat. Democrats are the enemy of this Republic."

I posted last summer that Bush will not only be impeached, he will then be sent to Europe to stand war criminal charges.

And a democratic controlled Senate will convict him.

"Free Republic has at least a half-dozen posters joining Conyers in the call for Bush's impeachment.

There will be a contingent on this website cheering him on."

I'll bet ya a sack of jelly donuts they don't last long posting that.
