Do You Have Any Idea Who I Am?(McKinney)

Ever heard this line before? There are also some close variants, such as “Do you know who my mother/father/third cousin is?” If you haven’t, my bet is that you’ve never been a cop, or you haven’t been one for very long. There seems to be a never-ending and constantly-replenished supply of self-important jerks who believe that the rules and customs that the rest of us follow do not apply to them. Most of the time, dealing with these folks is just amusing, and has given rise to some great comeback lines. But last Wednesday, The Honorable Cynthia McKinney, Member of the United States House of Representatives, took this to the level of an art form.

Representative McKinney hails from DeKalb County, Georgia, one of the counties in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Her tenure in office has been marked by other conflicts with the Capitol Police, mainly because she refuses to wear the lapel pin that identifies Members. She invited a crew from the “Guerilla News Network” to document the shameful treatment she receives at the hands of the Capitol Police. In an online clip, she walks past a guardhouse and is approached by a smiling Capitol officer who gets no closer than ten feet, verifies who she is, and then allows her to pass unmolested. She responds by saying, in a disgusted tone, “That’s the typical treatment I receive,” and then quotes Tupac Shakur: “Some things never change.”

You know, this applies to almost any group. There will always be those who think they are more important than the rules or anyone else.

An award should go to the United Airlines gate agent in Denver for being smart and funny, and making her point, when confronted with a passenger who probably deserved to fly as cargo.

During the final days at Denver's old Stapleton airport, a crowded United flight was canceled.

A single agent was rebooking a long line of inconvenienced travelers.

Suddenly an angry passenger pushed his way to the desk. He slapped his ticket down on the counter and said, "I HAVE to be on this flight and it has to be FIRST CLASS."

The agent replied, "I'm sorry sir. I'll be happy to try to help you, but I've got to help these folks first, and I'm sure we'll be able to work something out."

The passenger was unimpressed. He asked loudly, so that the passengers behind him could hear, "Do you have any idea who I am?"

Without hesitating, the gate agent smiled and grabbed her public address microphone.

"May I have your attention please?" She began, her voice bellowing throughout the terminal. "We have a passenger here at the gate WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHO HE IS. If anyone can help him find his identity, please come to the gate."

With the folks behind him in line laughing hysterically, the man glared at the United agent, gritted his teeth and swore "(Expletive) you."

Without flinching, she smiled and said, "I'm sorry, sir, but you'll have to stand in line for that, too."

The man retreated as the people in the terminal applauded loudly.

Although the flight was canceled and people were late, they were no longer angry at United.

This woman is an absolute pig, a racist, a troublemaker and a moron. I guess that makes her a fine Democrat. How anyone would want her to represent them is beyond comprehension.

Back in my drinking days I had the misfortune of spending the night in the drunk tank with some idiot who "Knows the governor". It didn't take long for me to wish I had been really good and drunk when I was arrested.

There was a high point. It was when a guard opened the door and told the guy "Nobody knows you're here and we can hold you for up to 48 hours before charging and booking you."

The guy finally ended up crying himself to sleep sitting in a corner.

Apparently an elitist as well! What an absolute disgrace to her constituency.

You've got that right, pal.

I lived in her district through one election cycle, then moved. I could not believe decent, sane, hardworking people could look at her and think she could possibly be representative of their hopes and dreams. This silly woman goes to freaking Cuba to help "harvest" sugar cane. I bet she goes out to the fields for photo ops and spends the rest of her time in Cuba in Fidel's air conditioned mega-palace. She's such a blow-hard.

AND her father, former Georgia state representative Billy McKinney, used to threaten to "cut" his opponents in floor debate.

After this clown-ess was reelected by those stupid people, I moved to Cobb County.

It was Newt Gingrich for me!

The title of the thread, not to mention McKinney's behavior, brought that little classic to mind.

BTW, she's obviously her daddy's child. He's a well-known demagogue who has a string of illegitimate children clear across the county.

Her mother, on the other hand, is a saint.

She worked for years in the ED of the county hospital, and I never knew of her having a cross word for anyone.

And, considering some of the clientele and their behavior, that definitely would pass muster with the people at the Vatican who check out saintly qualifications.
