I've said this before and I will say it again, those waving Mexican flags and chanting they want their land back do not seek to assimilate, ever.
If Congress gives amnesty to these invaders who do not recognize our laws or our sovereignty, then it is only a matter of time before they gain enough votes in some of our states to demand the right to secede from the union which the Government won't allow.
If and when they are rejected the situation will grow violent and civil war will erupt between us and millions of illegals who were granted citizenship.
At that time the real Americans (those who came here legally and assimilated into our society) will revolt bringing both the Democratic and Republican party to its knees for failing to uphold our laws and allow this to happen. Yes, I do believe even some Democrats (not all) will join the revolt.

I am not sure, but I think I remember WalMart paying an enormous fine for having illegal workers. As I recall, they hired a service that provided the workers but still got nailed. Wait, it wasn't a fine. I think they settled a lawsuit for not paying the workers enough.

I have tried to understand why President Bush has had such a tin ear to this problem He doesn't. He just sees it differently. He promised no nation building in Iraq but sees no problem building a "new America" right here.
We are now one of the largest Spanish-speaking nations in the world. We're a major source of Latin music, journalism and culture.
Just go to Miami, or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Chicago or West New York, New Jersey ... and close your eyes and listen. You could just as easily be in Santo Domingo or Santiago, or San Miguel de Allende.
For years our nation has debated this change -- some have praised it and others have resented it. By nominating me, my party has made a choice to welcome the new America.
As I speak, we are celebrating the success of democracy in Mexico. George Bush from a campaign speech in Miami, August 2000. |
You can read the speech here.
Here is an excerpt of a good critique of that speech:
In equating our intimate historic bonds to our mother country and to Canada with our ties to Mexico, W. shows a staggering ignorance of the civilizational facts of life. The reason we are so close to Britain and Canada is that we share with them a common historical culture, language, literature, and legal system, as well as similar standards of behavior, expectations of public officials, and so on. Where compensation rises, citizen workers will follow. Sounds like a call to raise the minimum wage by about $5.00/hour.

No amnesty. Not now. Not ever. Secure the borders. Deport. Bring in legal immigrants who stood in line to get here, have more to contribute, and want to assimilate.
I agree.

Events there would include the burning of the Mexican flag and guest speakers denouncing the illegal alien situation. Hopefully some politicians can be persuaded to come and speak.I do not believe that burning any flag is within the Freeper rules of demonstrating. Something like this will be used to tear down all the good work that this Free Republic site does. Do you really think that politicians will attend flag burnings? Or did I miss your sarcasm tag?

I do not believe that burning any flag is within the Freeper rules of demonstrating. If you check the thread that I linked, you see that I made a similar comment. IIRC, it's in the comments between 62 - 70. If it happens, I would hope for a turnout well over a million, so I don't think it would be just FReepers.

I agree with you. Flag burning is NOT a good protest option. Some posters mentioned the idea, because of their anger over the Mexican flags. I believe we are talking about a peaceful rally carrying the stars and stripes.
These are just ideas. Thank you for yours.

Events there would include the burning of the Mexican flagI'd re-think that one. As disrespectful as the Mexicans were last week, I didn't hear about them burning any flags. It just conjures up images of hippies and Palestian mobs (i.e. losers)

If and when they are rejected the situation will grow violent and civil war will erupt between us and millions of illegals who were granted citizenship.the problem I foresee is that there are a lot of active duty military with Mexican roots who would really be torn in a struggle like this and would probably side with their blood over their country

Can anyone explain the logic of a Liberal? The "logic" of a leftist (I do not use "liberal" to describe these people) is felt, and not reasoned. If facts and reason contradict the feelings of a leftist, this conflict merely serves to amplify and further radicalize the leftist's emotional conclusions on the subject.
See, it's simple!

If we use the conservative figure of 11,000,000 illegals and we charge them $ 2,000 to buy their citizenship, we are looking at over $ 2,000,000,000. $2B, is that it? Sure, to you and me, thats serious money, but to Uncle Sam; pocket change. And it won't come close to balancing out the money we've had to pay for illegal immigration; .5B for alien incarceration in CA alone.
I'd rather ship em back to mexico, build a wall, and, if they want back in,; they can knock on the front door like everyone else. If they try to scale the wall - shoot them. If they try to tunnel under it; blow them up.
I don't care - I'm fed up with it; after watching those illegals marching with their mexican flags - more than ever!
Seething.... the author of the article don't know the half of it!
