In Shahdas own words:
I feel a great sense of duty to do the translation of some these documents because that is the least I can do in time of war to serve the United States of America to whom I am in eternal debt and gratitude, and what I am doing is a small pay back toward this debt that I can never fully repay no matter what I do. My efforts to do the translation pale in comparison to the great efforts and sacrifice that our brave troops are doing on a daily basis.I asked Shahda during a phone interview with him on March 29, 2006, why he thought the government didnt translate the documents.

Yes I am. I am also a Freeper, noticed Shahda's translations, noticed that the Boston Globe and NY Times had contacted him and wondered why on earth this fellow hadn't been interviewed by a blogger!
This is such a blogger story and yet only the lamestream was covering it!
I sent an email about it to Instapundit and Captain's Quarters. Seems to me they should be shouting this from the rooftops.
We shall see.
Great interview, but also good writing, professional quality. FR is just packed with intelligent, capable people.
Just sent an E-mail out to Hugh Hewitt about this.
there is a ping list if you are interested! :)
A most excellent piece of interviewing and editing to article, Pat! Joseph really is an American Hero and meticulously honest with his translations ... what a contrast to democrat leaders!
Thank you very much for this very nice article, I really appreciate it. I would like to state that I am far from being a hero. Our heroes are our brave troops that are making the daily sacrifices to defend our freedom and our way of life.
God bless our troops.
God bless America
I am still single :)
It's just odd how this isn't booming throughout the blogosphere. Blogcritics was the only high-hit venue I had to publish it but that site is full of liberals.
They were nice about it though, helping me out and encouraging me. But I can't help but wonder why Michelle Malkin, Little Green Footballs....the conservative sites, aren't on top of this. What would really be nice if you Freepers jumped on this and send out emails to all the conservative sites and tell them they're getting as bad as the lamestream if they overlook this citizen's story.
Now I'm not necessarily looking for promotion my own self because guess what? Yesterday I wrote a review of American Idol. It has been number one on Blogcritics all day!
This interview went as high as number 4 but has now dropped out of the top ten. Makes me wonder about American priorities sometimes.

Congratulation! This is...disturbing, but sad to say not unexpected.
Conservative sites are too busy attacking the President and the GOP about Illegals they cannot be bothered with the most important issue only that capable of generating hysteria.
LOL.... :)
Great article!
May I say that on behalf of so many Americans, thank you for your selfless contribution to our country, Mr. Shahda! Your efforts will go down in history--as they should!
YOU sir, are a PATRIOT! God bless you, and God bless our troops!
Shelayne, you took the words right out of my mouth. Mr. Shahda, thank you!
Odd. "Pity the Nation" is advertised on the same page. Seems like a bit of a clash of ideals.
A great American.
I think those ads get placed when keywords match. jveritas is from Lebanon, the book is about Lebanon, so...
He is....your work is one of 'em.
We can't thank you enough, but that article gave it a pretty good effort! Hope to see much more.
