Breaking - Jill Carrol released in Iraq - more to come
My guess is she won't anytime soon. Iraq is a war zone.
Why is she still wearing an allah-bonnet on her head?
Hasn't it been a war zone the entire time she's been there?
Exactly, which is why it was foolish for her to be there in the first place. She was a free lancer. Once bitten, twice shy.
Time will tell but, given the way she spoke during her interview, my guess is she feels even more empowered by the treatment of her captors. Of course it doesn't make sense, but then neither does this story.
Hopefully, she will be confronted by someone in the media to explain her statement upon release with her sobbing, pleading for her life reaction in previous tapes. She either made those tearful pleas under duress or not.
She was just a stringer and novice reporter. I don't think any real news organization would want to hire her to go back to Iraq. Pressure from families and friends will also dissuade her. She will come back here to capitalize on her 15 minutes of fame.
If she did have a hand in orchestrating her abduction and I don't know that she did ... then she is a horrible monster as her translator was killed.
I found her videos with her fake-looking begging and floral backdrops to be disconcerting although not proof that there may have been more to the abduction.
That she was released completely unharmed with nothing but praise for her kidnappers makes it look worse. We will probably never know.
Her sobbing reminded me of Susan Smith's sobbing. Susan Smith's "sobbing" was one of the first things that tipped off the police that she may have drowned her children.
I hate to say it.
Even if my captors treated me well I would be a nervous wreck but she is basking in the limelight ... in Islamic garb.
It may have been sincere. She may have actually wanted us to release all female prisoners. The tape did not have any sound.
I think, from various things that she supposedly said and the fact that she changed her dress to Muslim dress a few months ago (before she was kidnapped), that she had already converted to Islam.
I'm speaking of the fake look of sobbing. Maybe it's just me.
As I say, I cannot make any claims with certainty ... and I have a hard time thinking she would be alright with her translator being killed.
I don't know.
Actually, it is, when they're dealing with collaborators. They did the same thing with the Japanese and Italian leftist women they "kidnapped" in the last year or so.
I don't have much of an appetite.
There are times when I look at my posts and say to myself, "Darn, that was pretty harsh." and I do have occasional concerns for family and friends who might be reading about loved ones. They also have a responsibility to assist their child in being a patriot dedicated to the wellbeing of her own country.
In this particular case I've become more and more convinced that Jill Carroll was intimately involved in these machinations. The fact that a translator was killed would make it truly disgusting that she could be hiding information. You're right in that we'll have to wait for all the facts to be uncovered...it is just that more and more evidence is identifying her as actually being a component of this whole mess, rather than a victim.

Yes, she has a twin sister.
"LOL, but do liberals ever grow up?"
Yeah, but then they are called conservatives
I agree. I don't know if she was aware that he had been killed when she issued her release statement. It is the one part of the story that counters the proposition that her kidnapping was staged. There are a number of inconsistences and unanswered questions, which need to be pursued.
Before and after pictures. Looks like she put on a few pounds. The Fallujah Fifteen perhaps?
