Boehner hints a back down on 'amnesty'
The Washington Times ^ | March 29, 2006 | Charles hurt

Posted on 03/29/2006 7:15:28 AM PST by surely_you_jest

House Majority Leader John A. Boehner refused yesterday to rule out compromising with the Senate to expand the House border security bill to include a guest-worker program or provisions that opponents call "amnesty." "Let's wait and see what the Senate can produce," he told reporters yesterday when asked whether House Republicans would reject the Senate Judiciary Committee's proposal to allow the estimated 12 million illegal aliens now in the U.S. to seek citizenship after paying a fine.

greater than a desire to roll in the mud with you

I see. So insinuating I'm a "compromised socialists whose only conservative principles are support of the 2A and right to life" is not rolling in the mud because YOU said it, right?

From your other posts, it looks like you were already in the mud before I got on this thread.

small businesses perhaps. but larger, established businesses, don't hire people off the books. and will actually take time to authenticate documentation. its unlikely that I walk into home depot now and see undocumented persons in orange vests. but with a guest worker program, I will. maybe its different in border states, but at least in NY, this is what I see.

the current businesses that employ illegals right now - I see no evidence that they want to operate differently. they employ illegals now, off the books - they will tomorrow. they don't want a guest worker program, they want the system we have right now - which they helped create.

there is only one way for this guest worker program to be a benefit - it must REPLACE the employer/worker arrangement we have now. to do that, employers must face harsh sanctions. and there must be some stronger curtailment of people just walking into the US to get jobs, accessing the health care system, etc. the only way a guest worker program can be a benefit, is if foreign workers see advantages in signing up, fear continuing to be illegals, and employers are forced to hire from that pool or face sanctions. I don't see that in the plan right now - all I see, is a brand new guest worker program that's just going to be added on top of what we already have.

Well, it looks like both "sides" are doing their best to have to "stay after."

Turning out the Republicans in 2006 guarantees that something even worse than guest workers might come along.

Yeah, if we don't continue to elect open-borders Republicans we might get illegal aliens flooding across our borders. Seriously, what do you think is going to come across the border that is worse than what we have now? Republicans will continue to drift to the left as long as we continue to reward them with our votes. If they can hold on to the conservative vote, they'll want to branch out and get some of that leftie, hate-America vote as well.

Because some in our government WANT the cheap labor and cheap votes. If they actually did their jobs and enforced out borders, Vincente Fox might call them bad names.

I looked through this entire thread and did not see DC address the mods once. You're being awfully vile. And by the way, the this "bunker" rhetoric is the specialty of the gun-grabbers. Thanks for showing your true colors.

And you didn't see him denying it either. And I'll grab my guns whenever the heck I want to!

I "read the damned post". Notice that since your buddy Coop has tailed off a bit, actual discussion is returning to the thread?

Mayhap your disapprobation is directed at the wrong parties?

Well said, but don't expect it to make sense to those who power means more than principle.

Freeper named "coop" is definitely the hyper aggressive jackass on this thread

But at least he's not some ignorant coward - he's more than able and willing to address folks he's ridiculing. Can you say the same, Denny?!?

Dane, I can't understand the mentality of treason. What is it with you ? Greed ? Hatred of America ? Or are you a Mexican who wants reconquista ? Or are you actually stupid enough to believe that cheap labor serfs who need massive public services will vote conservative ?

And notice they are coming from "proud" liberal infested public schools, not private or parochial schools.

Illegals making $8 or less an hour sending their kids to private or parochial schools ? Are you that stupid ?

Just stop. Please. It's painful to watch a battle of wits between you and an unarmed 10 year old. I think it's quite clear that he/she has no interest in debating on the merits, only mudslinging. I find that eventually they go away if you ignore tehm.

And maybe not. If the thread is no longer broken, let's stop trying to fix it.

Considering the levels of personal attacks initiated by Coop, it's a wonder the Mods didn't step in.

We almost did, to tell you to stop bothering us with your petty complaints. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Eliminating the filibuster (which is something neither the GOP nor the Democrats want to do) would turn the Senate into a smaller version of the House.

I like the house. They have more people that listen to America and not Mexico.
