House Majority Leader John A. Boehner refused yesterday to rule out compromising with the Senate to expand the House border security bill to include a guest-worker program or provisions that opponents call "amnesty." "Let's wait and see what the Senate can produce," he told reporters yesterday when asked whether House Republicans would reject the Senate Judiciary Committee's proposal to allow the estimated 12 million illegal aliens now in the U.S. to seek citizenship after paying a fine.

On a side note this proposed $2000 fine on the path to citizenship is a crock too. I read about a couple who sailed their boat from the Bahamas to their homeport harbor in Conneticut a few years ago.

The entry rules at the time were that the Coast Guard had to be notified several hours in advance of an arrival. The weather was hell, the radio went out and they sailed directly into the harbor, dinghyed in and called the CG on the phone to report their arrival. CG came out, proccessed their entry then fined them $10,000 for illegally entering the harbor.
