I saw pictures of some that were high school kids whose school hung an American flag upsidedown on the flagpole. What kid wouldn't want to get out of school and show off and be loud. They probably had no idea what they were doing....or if they did, where did they learn it. In that school?
Bingo! I'm sure most people have no idea what flying the flag upside down even means.

I think it's a combination of things. I've looked and can't find it, but, I remember reading some time ago that a TX school district - - I believe it was Dallas - - wanted to hire illegals as teachers, wanted Spanish in the classroom, etc., etc.
I believe there were buses that were made available for the kids in Dallas and, I heard the the Spanish radio stations had been working to help in the protests. Of course, LaRaza, Mecha, ANSWR and a few others were probably involved in helping to 'teach' the kids and their parents their propaganda.
