This morning, President Bush announced from the Oval Office at the White House, the resignation of long time friend, and 5 year Chief of Staff, Andrew Card, and the appointment of Josh Bolten, director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, to that position. Later, following a Cabinet Meeting, the President made a statement in the Rose Garden, surrounded by Cabinet members, about the progress in the government of Iraq, and the commitment of his administration to work with their counterparts in Iraq in the future.
In news of significance to all conservatives, both Lyn Nofziger (81), Reagan press secretary, and Caspar Weinberger (88), Reagan's Secretary of Defense, died in the past 24 hours. Both men served with distinction and will be missed.
Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on the Daily Dose!
LOVE.
You can see it in each expression, and it can only be done by someone who truly understands.
That's why we don't see it in any 'professional' drawings.
jonny..........I would love to purchase a copy from you. I would treasure it my whole life.
Thank you very much :)
He really wanted that toaster, didn't he? I'd take that as a compliment, Snugs :)
Really?
If he had just left when I asked him to, that wouldn't have been necessary.
He'll probably go to his dark cell at Clown Posse and make fun of us. Let him. Honor is a rare quality, and bashers never have it.
As for the photos......melancholy is a very good word for what I see as well, STARWISE. The sorrow in both men is palpable.
Probably wanted it to take to the dark side and show all his friends.....
As am I, Kate. As am I.
I would like to reduce the scope of the federal government, too. However, I think it's vital to put an end to careerists like Byrd, Kennedy, Specter and so many others, who stay on long past their time. The House is not as much of a problem as the Senate, where people can hang on for 30-50 years. It is a sclerotic body with hardened attitudes, antiquated practices and totally stale thought processes.
You're not a pest, adopted-weekend-Freeper mom :) You're not alone either. You have many friends here who are with you in spirit and prayer. I'm just one of them.
But most importantly, God is with you.
I'm praying that He heals your loved ones and soothes your heart.
Notice the change in hair color of both men--Card and Bush. Yes, they have been through a lot together. I don't particularly care for Card, don't like his interviews, but he did work very hard for the President. I wish him well.
Amen, jonny..........AMEN!
It's been a tough 5 1/2 years.
Hi
"I am watching the exchange between Leahy and Rice as I view this photo. He is talking to her like some people talk to their household help, telling her what she should do tomorrow. He is insufferable!!!"
I agree. However, I do remember someone asking VP Cheney about all the nattering nabobs in DC. He simply dismissed all of it as "background noise". Well said, Mr. Cheney.
"Bittersweet" might be a good word too, for GWB and Andy Card. I'm sure Andy is burnt out and/or tired as heck, but must have mixed feelings about leaving. I'd bet GWB doesn't want him to go, really. In any case, he deserves a good rest and success in whatever he does next. God bless him and his family.
Yes, it has been a tough 5 1/2 years. I'm sure the 18-hour days have taken their toll on Mr. Card. I can't even begin to imagine the pressure that he and others around the President must bear.
The President begins his day at about 7:00 am in the Oval Office. The first thing on the agenda is reviewing the overnight terrorist assessments. So if Bush is on duty at 7, Card has had to be sure all things were ready to go BY 7. He put in some very, very long days.
Can I claim one of your thirds? :)
Deb, you really are an invaluable resource to us. We can't thank you enough.
Has the time changed already over there? I don't think we change ours until this weekend.
Yes, there is love in this portrait. That is the thing I noticed first. There was no effort to try to make the president look different from what he truly is. A gentle, loving, funny, intelligent man who loves humanity...in spite of the horrible things said about him. Jonny captured him! I want a copy too! Just set a price!
LOL!
Sheesh, dude, how bad do you want a toaster?
