This morning, President Bush announced from the Oval Office at the White House, the resignation of long time friend, and 5 year Chief of Staff, Andrew Card, and the appointment of Josh Bolten, director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, to that position. Later, following a Cabinet Meeting, the President made a statement in the Rose Garden, surrounded by Cabinet members, about the progress in the government of Iraq, and the commitment of his administration to work with their counterparts in Iraq in the future.
In news of significance to all conservatives, both Lyn Nofziger (81), Reagan press secretary, and Caspar Weinberger (88), Reagan's Secretary of Defense, died in the past 24 hours. Both men served with distinction and will be missed.
Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on the Daily Dose!

Of course not! It is always "different" for the Dems.
Oh, that's cool. Don't know much about him, but I know his name well.
"The 22nd Amendment limiting presidents to two terms has both its good and bad aspects. The worst flaw that it automatically turns any president into a lame duck and diminishes his power in his 2nd term.
The president becomes a convenient punching bag for every two-bit reporter and politician looking to score cheap points with his or her constituency, as well as for every three-bit politician who sees him or herself as the next president.
The 22nd happened to come along at the same time as television began training our populace to have shorter and shorter attention spans. So not only does TV overexpose modern presidents to constant publicity and carping from various quarters, but the public becomes tired of the president after around five or six years.
That's why every president since the 22nd was ratified has had a rocky 2nd term. If, at the same time the 22nd Amendment was being proposed and ratified, term limits for senators and representatives were also included, the original balance of power between the two branches would have been maintained."
. . . a commentary so insightful that it merits a second post!!! THANK YOU!
THANK YOU BOTH . . . you made my evening!!!
[And yes, I love you too!!!]
Lol!!! I love that. I'm going to use that sometime.
Extraordinary! Thank you!
I actually found jla's post rather amusing..........all that expunging and melodrama and feeling rejected and all. :)
They usually stay away, but once in a while one of em is stubborn and doesn't get the gentle hints.....
Oh.............blushing here...........thanks!
ooops, sorry... reading posts in print is a long second to hearing conversation! But I did read it as sounding like you were a tad optimistic. At least moreso than earlier.
God bless!
Thank you for the prayers for my son. I'm sorry to be a pest, but I do feel very alone when he's sick. My daughter lives out of state. Drat!
I soooooooooooooo happy that you had such a fun (and scenic) trip . . . there's no one I know who deserved it more!!! [How's the jet lag?!]
BTW: Do you know when and where the President is speaking tomorrow? . . . I know he's making another WOT speech, but that's all I've heard!
Thank you, Nord. I'm starting to breathe a bit easier now.
My heavens - she blushes too?
You're welcome!
My mom had an old 78 record of "That Lucky Old Sun" which she's since given to us, as Mr.FF is an antique phonograph collector (among other things!). I love how that song sounds on a crackly 78 player. It doesn't have the same aura without the cracks and pops, somehow. Probably my favorite song of his, hands-down.
"Remarkably excellent - you truly have talent!!!"
I agree with NordP...snugs and the others who commented on your talent for drawing, S J...God given, for sure!
***I am watching the exchange between Leahy and Rice as I view this photo. He is talking to her like some people talk to their household help, telling her what she should do tomorrow.
He is insufferable!!!***
Leaky Leahy is telling the Secretary of State what to do? You are right! Insufferable!
Not too bad a jet lag. It's only 3 hours and we only stayed 3 days, so I never really adapted to PST.
I might have some problems with the time change on Sunday though. I'll be very confused! :)
