Liberal Ingrid Converted By Rush (Yes, THAT Liberal Ingrid!)

RUSH: Let's go to San Jose, California. This, the Ingrid. All right.

CALLER: Hello, Rush.

RUSH: Hello, Ingrid. Hold on just a second and let me properly introduce you.

CALLER: (giggles)

RUSH: Folks, if you've not heard Ingrid from San Jose before, she and I have had our battles. (February 22, 2006)

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: We've gone at it tooth and nail. I mean, it's been fun; I've enjoyed it. I've always looked forward to your call, but I'm a little disappointed because it says up there that you agree with me. She's a big lib, proud to be so, is not offended when I call her that like some libs are. Well, they say, "No! I'm a progressive," or, "I'm a moderate," but you say you agree with me on this issue. I assume you mean immigration?

CALLER: Well, actually what upsets me about this whole thing, the illegals going out in the street to protest against US laws, and then at the same time they're flying their own country's flag. You know, it's like waving the red flag in front of a bull. It's just infuriates me -- and then we're catering to their language, ESL?

RUSH: Mmm-hmm.

CALLER: You know, English as a second language in elementary school, and teachers are being replaced with teachers who speak English and Spanish. DMV and voter pamphlets are in Spanish and Vietnamese, whatever -- and, you know, English has been a language of this land. When I came here legally, I would have never demanded that my children speak, you know, their mother's language. They speak English, and we speak English at home. We acclimated to this country. But I see it all around me. I see people flying their Mexican flag on their cars, on their license plates.

RUSH: Yeah, I've seen that, too. Ingrid --

CALLER: And, you know what?

RUSH: What?

CALLER: Also, I think this country is becoming Balkanized, because you have these little areas. I mean. they're totally Spanish. They're totally Chinese --

RUSH: This is scary.

CALLER: -- all over the country.

RUSH: This is scary.

CALLER: -- that's not good.

RUSH: This is very scary.

CALLER: It's not good.

RUSH: Ingrid, I think your liberalism here is undergoing a gut check. How does it feel?

CALLER: I am... I am... RUSH: No, no, no. Let me ask you a question. How does it feel to be a racist and a bigot?

CALLER: No, I don't think that's racist. Actually I think it's logic.

RUSH: No, I know, but I mean people who say what you have said are being accused --

CALLER: I don't care.

RUSH: -- of being racists and bigots.

CALLER: My motto has always been, "Live and let live," but what I see and these people come here and demand this and that and then fly their own flag, it pisses me off. Can I say that?

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: (giggles)

RUSH: Well, you just did. So...

CALLER: Yeah, I guess. I don't know.

RUSH: We're enjoying this so much, we didn't want to bleep anything out that you said.

CALLER: Yeah. I know when I came here, I had to have health checkups. I had to have blood tests

RUSH: I forgot , where are you from originally?

CALLER: I'm from Germany.

RUSH: That's right, Germany. You said that.

CALLER: And I had to fill out papers up to my neck, you know. Now TB in this area is resistant to multidrugs.

RUSH: You know, Ingrid, we're on a good meeting of the minds here and I don't want to put it at risk but I have to say something to you.

CALLER: What?

RUSH: Hear that? "What?" She's getting geared up for battle now. The reason that this is happening, the things that you described is largely because of the "tolerance" that liberalism has told us all we must have. "We must respect people's differences. We must understand their rage. We must understand their pain, and we must do everything we can not to offend them."

CALLER: Yes, I do all of that, and I'm sure you do that, too, if they come here legally.

RUSH: (softly) Oh my. (laughing)

CALLER: But you cannot come here illegally. Illegal means against the law -- and, you know what?

RUSH: Legal and illegal doesn't matter anymore. That's the point. Those are antiquated terms, legal and illegal. It's "undocumented." We can't do anything to humility these people, and that derives from the way liberals look at the disadvantaged, and they look at them as victims. So these people are just victims. So we have to look the other way when they tell us how mad they are. "They have a right to be mad, they're victims! They're victims of an oppressive US government, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah."

CALLER: You know what they're victims of? They're victims of these companies that hire these people; they're paying slave labor.

RUSH: I can't believe this.

CALLER: We need to go after these companies that hire these people because, you know what? These people live 12 to 24 people in one room. You know, an American cannot afford to do that, the job that they're doing, at those wages, because an American has to pay rent. They don't live, you know --

RUSH: Ingrid, I have to run here because the constraints of time but I have to tell you I've loved this. I have so appreciated this. I can't recall... I've reached you. Obviously this program has worked! You are not who you were. Don't get used to it; it may not last, but (sigh) I have reached you. It is so strange listening to somebody that -- and she's not shouting, she's not screaming! When she called here as a liberal before, she was insulting and mad and all this. Now look! She's very reasoned here in her analysis and so forth. This just proves that with patience, my objective of having every American agree with me is reachable.

what I was ignorant of the first 40 years of my life, and still a bit guilt ridden)

We have traveled similar paths (see my profile for more details).

There is no need to feel guilty over the 'sins' of the past. Consider this:

You believed what you had been taught and trusted those in a position of authority to be honest and not to be misleading. As you matured, you began to think for yourself, as you did, you learned the error of THEIR ways, not yours.

An old quote, one you have probably heard before, and one attributed to many (most often to Churchill):

"If you are not a radical at eighteen, you have no heart and if you are not conservative by the time you are forty, you have no brain."

note: there are many variations of this around, but that is the one I remember.

"And who the hell IS Denny Crane, anyway??"

"I'M Denny Crane !"

Yup, Captain Kirk moved to Boston and became a lawyer. He couldn't afford what Starfleet was paying him.

You don't have to be a citizen to vote Democratic in most large American cities.

Rush blew it with the almost tearful babe who married a wetback. (She wanted to know why she should have to choose between going to Mexico or having her two children lose their father.

I'm sick of hearing this one from stupid women. I married a man that is a citizen of another country. (We live outside the US right now) I thought of the ramifications before I married him. If we ever decide to live in the US, I realize that even though, at this time, my husband will have first priority on a green card, he will still have to wait in line to legally enter the US.

It's also not something that is guaranteed. The laws could change before we decide to move and I could find that my husband can't enter the US. I thought about this and whether I would be willing to live in his country BEFORE I married him.

Right now Mexico is entitled to more yearly visas than the whole of Europe combined.(the last statistics I can find are from 2004, Mexico 170k visas versus the whole of Europe 130k visas) I'm more than a little unhappy that they are talking about upping the number of legal visas Mexico gets each year because that will lessen the number of visas for my husband's country.

Thanks for your comments.

We can only hope that Rush has one of his lackeys monitoring threads like this.

ML/NJ (remembering the early days of CIS when Rush was a poster himself)

Loretta Sanchez was first elected to the House of Representatives in Santa Ana, CA, thanks to the illegal vote. Prior to the election an "immigrant" group registered illegal aliens and told them they could vote. Sanchez defeated longtime incumbent Bob Dornan.

And in the larger picture, I think what Rush was probably actually talking about was the vote of these illegal aliens after they are granted citizenship.

Klintoon's "Motor Voter" law

In many areas it is illegal to even ask for ID or proof of US citizenship to register or vote

They also register to vote by mail, lie by certifying they are US citizens on the mail-in voter registration - then absentee-vote by mail
