I am beginning to believe that the blue blood spoiled rich kid President of ours who has never worked a day in his life really hates our culture and heritage just as much as the blue blood spoiled rich kid John Kerry does.

Kerry wanted to make the US part of Europe. Bush and the open borders traitors on this board, want to make the US part of Latin America.

The national disgrace that they are seeing is how we are remaining calm while our nation is being ripped to shreds.

Bush and the open borders traitors on this board, want to make the US part of Latin America.

Insults like the word "traitor" are not useful to this discussion.

I've made it abundantly clear that I desire to make these immigrants "Americans" in every sense of the word. English speaking, proud Americans.

That would be a hard challenge when fighting the PC liberal crowd. But people on our side who just want to rid the country of these folks make the job even harder.

The fact is that these people aren't going away. No politician, of either party, has even promised such a thing. And if we can't get a politician to promise to do something verbally, the chance of it happening are just about zero.

I'm urging conservatives to acknowledge this fact, and then proceed to plan "B". Which as a patriotic American I believe is welcoming these people as my ancestors were welcomed to this country, and then assimilate them culturally and linguistically into this great country.

If we DON'T do this, they will remain a mexican population inside our borders, having more children than ours are, and the United States as we know it will cease to exist. Is that what you *really* want?

What a load of cr*p! Here's a news flash for you...they don't *want* to be americans.

Because we're in their face daily reminding them that they're not welcome. They're "illegal". This is a true statement, but if the goal is to pursuade them to learn english and become americans, then a hostile bunch of white guys will not sell them on the idea.

Do you comprehend this?

You want to get rid of a 'guest worker' population ?

Sanction their employers. Deny them benefits that taxpayers paid for. And most creatively, levy high taxes on their wire transfers home.

They will deport themselves.

Now as for the illegals themselves, you are insane to want to keep them here

You obviously haven't read everything I've written on this thread.

I don't want these people to stay. I'm merely concluding that they're not going to be sent home. So now what?

You would literally have to spend trillions of dollars to "assimilate them".

From which orifice did you pull that number from? It's in your tag line too.

How much money did we "spend" to assimilate the immigrants of the early 1900's, which came in a much larger number than we have in Californa now? Answer: we merely refused to accept them in jobs or on the streets unless they learned english and became americans. It didn't cost one thin dime, because the *people* who lived in this country assimilated the *people* who came here. No government program or government money, other than public schools, was needed.

The biggest obstacle to doing this is liberalism, and conservatives who can't get it out of their head that these people are illegal and want to punish them. I think they need punishment too, but I recognize that trying to do such a thing with a population of 10+ million is just not practical.

By the way, I lived in So. Californa until 10 years ago. Which means that when I go back the stark change into Mexifornia is even more obvious. I could care less what color people's skin is, but I do want them to be Americans. We have done a lousy job of assimilation there, and neither the left or the right is talking about doing it. My point is that the choice before us is assimilation, or being overrun.

Take it or leave it.

Sure. That'd work.

What politician is promising to do that? You might find one crank in the house saying such things, but the tea leaves are obviously saying that this won't happen.

If you can't get a bunch of politicains to even promise to do a thing, then you can guarantee that they won't do a thing.

I'm afraid that this is going to play out just like the 80's. Nothing will change. And that's the worse outcome of all, because the mexican population in the Southwest will merely continue to out grow the american population until the american culture is totally dead there.

The only reasonable answer is assimilation, and we'd best get at the job instead of fighting among ourselves.

I think the problem that you are having is that you think that these people may want to become American. As we can see plainly see from these protests, they are Mexican patriots. They hate America despite all the freebies and liberty they get to suck off and nothing but force is going to change that. Giving them amnesty only invites millions more. One thing that hasn't been tried yet is enforcing the law. Maybe we should try that before we just give up and cede America over to foreign socoialists.

You lack the brains to understand that if you want to make tea from a teabag, you use a cupful of water, not a gallon.

To assimilate immigrants you must control their numbers. If they keep pouring over at present levels you will end up with European style banlieue. That means you stop welcoming them. If immigrants reach a critical mass in a community, they will stop doing the work of learning English and assimiliating because there will be enough of them to create their own Mexico's where Spanish is the majority language. Like in Europe where the Muslims can create whole communities where they never have to leave Arabic or Urdu.

"When I see statements like this, I honestly wonder if this would be the response if they were Canadians and not Hispanic."

Wonder all you want. You'll have to, because the Canadians won't be doing this. The invaders are mexicans.

"Nobody's fighting anyone.."

Not yet, maybe. We need to do WHATEVER it takes to get these filthy invaders OUT of OUR country. If that is the threat of force or the use of force, so be it.

"...and Latin American immigrants by and large, legal and illegal do not hate America."

Nice try at lumping in illegal with legal. But I'll tell you this much.. that is the ONLY way this will become a civil war.. if the LEGAL immigrants side with the illegal invaders. Then it will be bad.. real bad. That WOULD be civil-war. As it is, a fight with the invaders would NOT be a civil-war any more than the Alamo was.

As for the idea that most illegals "do not hate America".. BULL. My eyes and ears tell me different. And you can keep your "hispanic" label. It's meaningless. We are talking about MEXICANS.. Mexican CITIZENS from MEXICO.

INVADERS OUT. NO COMPROMISE. WHATEVER IT TAKES. NOW. REMEMBER THE ALAMO.

"The citizens of the United States of America ARE unified on the solution. It's called HR 4437."

Are they unified on using force if the provisions of the bill are resisted?
