Why is it always Grandmothers and not Grandfathers?..........And why are they always princesses? and not plain old women-folk?........Would a Chief allow his daughters to marry a white man?.........

They were not "princesses" in my case. At the time, the thought of a native American man marrying a Caucasian woman was not heard of. There are many cases of native American women dying young, in mysterious ways, after a mixed marriage. This was linked to the social stigma of the day. A marriage that worked out in the boonies often couldn't survive in town, where the woman was likely to be an outcast.
