WTF? Sometimes he doesn't seem to be paying attention, or maybe this isn't a big deal.

Well, think about the alternative answer for a moment?
"Yeah, I knew about the documents. That's why we fed false information to our Russian double agent named Petra, who lives in the Ukraine and likes to eat broccoli for breakfast, so that he could feed false information to the Iraqi leadership who already know we are coming and want to prepare. Did I mention that we planned to invade?"
You think that would be better?

This is all part of the ploy to get the documents hyped up in the media.

Is it me or is a standard answer to many questions, "I don't know. I haven't seen/heard of/read the document/story in question."

They knew the Russians were screwing around a long time ago when the oil for food scandal broke. this is kind of old news,
just supporting evidence.

I think he is feigning ignorance/buying time while it gets sorted out.
I don't think we should trust the Russians or the Chinese as far as we can throw them.....
And, if we are going to TRUST, then we better do a lot better job at the VERIFY.

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld in a news conference today said he did not know that documents have been released that showed That is ABSOLUTELY NOT WHAT HE SAID!
He said he didn't know if there was an INVESTIGATION into who might have leaked the information to Russia. He also said that he was CERTAIN that if it needed investigating, it was being done.
Period.

AL-CNN reports. They have pictures too, but they're having trouble removing the "X's" over Donald Rumsfeld's face.

LOL, right. Rumsfeld had NO IDEA that the Russians were helping us by giving Saddam misinformation on our troop movements. He had no clue! Golly. Har!
To: navysealdad
I think this strongly reports our planting bogus information for the russkies to pick up before the war. Good disinformatsia, Don!
To: navysealdad
They're a political issue now, not a military one. Rumsfeld doesn't need to know about them.

Rumsfeld has always struck me as a weak link in the generally strong chain of the Bush II administration. Most of the senior Bush adminstration officials are comspicuously intelligent; Rumsfeld isn't a moron, but compared to the rest of the crew it almost seems that way sometimes.
