Well well well. Suggestions to "shake up the team" must have resonated.
Reports out of all arab radio station in Seacaucus, NJ is that the Emir of Dubai will be tapped to replace him.
Of course my Arabic is a little rusty, I could have misunderstood...
Think of it this way. In the Bush administration Mr Card was able to resign.
In the Clinton administration he would have been rubbed out.
It's about time.....Meirs nomination, Katrina fiasco, Bush visit to S.America, lousy poll numbers. Let's hope the new guy will help the President.
Mr. Card has worked vigorously for over five years. I am grateful for his service and hope he has a bright future.
The DUmmies are overjoyed and have decided that indictments are coming.
No surprise. This was rumored to be in the works a few months ago. No doubt Coleman and other weak kneed Rep heard this was coming and explains ther calls for a "shakeup" so they could pretend credit. They'll receive none on this end, this has nothing to do with them.
Look, I had some problems with Card (Miers) but he DID acknowledge & praise Freepers and for that he deserves some praise in judgement, correct? ;-)
I wish him well and thank him for his service to country.
Great News.
Andy Card is great at getting people elected - not making policy.
Won't change a thing. He does need to make some money after five years at such a low salary for a person of his caliber.
Andy Card has been talking about leaving for probably two years now. This is no surprise. My guess is Bush talked him into staying longer than he wanted.
God bless Andy Card. I'm thankful for the service of this good and decent man to our country and to our president.

Card's Departure

My sources tell me that White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card's resignation has almost nothing to do with a "staff shakeup," as the AP has reported.
The "staff shakeup" meme plays into the MSM's obsession with the president's "slumping poll numbers" -- which they all too gaily report -- but does not really add up. Card served as a traditional CoS; an administrator, not a policy or political guy, and for all the shortcomings of this White House, staff administration has never really been one of them.
Rather, I have been told by Washington insiders that Card is leaving to play a significant role in the presidential campaign of Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. This announcement will not be made for several months; perhaps not until after the 2006 election, but many of Card's associates have already been working for Romney behind the scenes
GodSpeed Andrew Card. Thanks for a job well done, especially Election 2004.
That was the first inkling that there might be changes in the White House staff.
Anyone know who will be replacing Bolton?
I would like to see Andy come back to Massachusetts to run against Ted Kennedy in November for the U.S. Senate. It is a crime that the Swimmer is running unopposed. At the least, he should be made to debate in public so his debilitated condition is exposed to the public.
Card is the first to go in the shake-up.
I thought it was hillarious to see John Thune say how wonderful Josh Bolton will do as the new chief of staff, "since he's done a good job keeping spending in check as budget director" (paraphrased)....
No wonder the entire GOP seems hopelessly lost - when they think that they've done a GOOD job controlling spending....
