I don't base my views on what talk show hosts and pencil pushers think. They..........like you..........risk nothing, decide nothing, do nothing. Neither do FR critics.
They.............like you.........are free to opine and attack with nothing at stake. I listen to/read their words with that in mind. They bear no responsibility for what happens, and what they say should be judged accordingly.
I had the same position under Reagan. He had to make hard choices based on reality. He couldn't implement all his promises because he had to live in the real world of DC politics. I didn't listen to the ultra con critics then any more than I do now.
Michelle Malkin doesn't live in the real world of political decisions, and neither do you. President Bush does.
As for President Bush's policies........I don't agree with all of them either, but in the scheme of history, his presidency will be judged on his strength, courage, and integrity, and his how he made the country stronger because of his leadership.
(btw, this is a new method of testing mandated by NCLB. Reagan didn't make test scores higher, so your point is still irrelevant. Education has been in a free fall and President Bush's education policies have slowed it down. Reagan has nothing to do with it).

We live in a media-saturated world where we hear too much too frequently from too many hyper-talkative people. Michelle Malkin is a great lady and very courageous, but she's turning into too much of a media-hungry drama queen. She made way too big an issue out of the Dubai port operations deal, and who knows what she's saying about the Hutchinson company running radiation scanners in the Bahamas. I'm not interested in any comments from conservative pundits about security issues that they do not understand in any detail. People need to turn off the TV, get some exercise, and reflect on where we are in history and how well Bush is handling very tough conditions in the world.

But in the Fall I believe conservatives will show up at the polls and vote for GOP incumbents to prevent a Democrat takeover of congress. Pubs are pragmatic, rational people who will choose to get the best results possible in the mid-term elections.
Amen! And that's exactly why the left can't get Bush on any lies since he hasn't told any and why they resort to claiming to have a "change of heart" because of something/somebody like Miers. Is that all they got? How silly.

JFK's legacy was not based on courage or integrity but based on actions and nonactions (action such as the Cuban Missile Crisis, nonactions such as the Bay of Pigs). Few think of JFK and remember his integrity. The book "Profiles in Courage" was written before his presidency. Had JFK never been president, one may think of him and think of courage, but not so since he became president.
LBJ's legacy will be his expansion of the welfare state. Few will remember LBJ for his integrity.
Nixon's lack of integrity is how most will view him, because he would have been impeached.
Carter's slimy lack of patriotism is how he will be remembered, based on his globe trotting, anti-American agenda.
Reagan is remembered on what he did, not his immense patriotism or integrity. Reagan took the nation and changed its character and brought "pride in America" back to the citizens. Reagan will be remembered for literally tearing down the Berlin Wall and ending a long, long Cold War, and for being a man of steel in negotiations with the Soviets, and for causing the boom of the 1990s with is drive to reform tax rates. Reagan will be remembered for the conservative Reagan Revolution, that George Bush killed. Reagan will NOT be remembered for his integrity, but for his actions.
George Herbert Walker Bush will be remembered for his lie to conservatives that he would not raise taxes. He not only raised taxes, but Bush Sr. increased the rate of socialism expansion. He will NOT be remembered for his integrity.
Scumbag will be remembered for what he did (BJs in the Oval Office; 15 felonies), and for what he did not do (failed to respond to attacks on the USA). Scumbag may be remembered for his lack of integrity.
As you see, negative outcomes (Nixon, Scumbag, Carter, Bush Sr.,)--are remembered for their lack of integrity.
However, other presidents (JFK, Reagan) are not remembered for their integrity or other positive traits, but for actions and nonactions.
Bush will be remembered like JFK and Reagan for actions and nonactions, and Bush's integrity will not be remembered: for his action of expanding the welfare state (global and domestic socialism), and for his nonactions (allowing a Mexican invasion and pushing for amnesty), and for being president when 911 happened--this is how historians will remember Bush.
Summary--it will be Bush's actions and nonactions, not his courage or integrity, in how conservatives and historians will remember George Bush.

There are NO stratospheric spending increases.
As President Reagan said "There you go again." My point is the President has not been served well by some of his advisors, Mr. Card included. When Mr. Card appeared on TV, he usually came across as an empty suit and did a lousy job of defending the President. As Chief of Staff along with his assistants they should be able to head off potential problems to keep the President above the fray. The handling of Dubai was a complete debacle, as was Ms. Meirs, as was Katrina. Have you seen mutts like Schumer, Reid and Pelosi slam the President constantly...it is my contention a tough chief of staff should be out front taking these characters to the wood shed. These are some of the reasons why the Presidents numbers are down. You should be ashamed of yourself to accuse a strong supporter of the President as being a leftist. You initiated the abusive freepmails, apparently you can dish it out but you can't take it.
When there are increases of 50%, 100% and even 200% to existing social welfare programs, and when new social welfare programs are initiated, that qualifies for the adjective "stratospheric".
Take a look back at Reagan and see where he was increasing programs 2, 3 and 4%, and even proposed (or did)froze some.
A quick perusal of the OMB Historical Tables will show you the % of total spending devoted to the Superfunction Human Resources* (Table 3.1) dropped during Reagan's term and rose during Bush's term.
* This Superfunction is the broadest category of social welfare.

The President will still ram amnesty for illegal invaders through Congress with the help of such noted conservatives as Teddy Kennedy, spend our grandchildren's money like a drunken sailor, and keep our boys in the military in between both sides of the civil war in Iraq.
Maybe W can try to sell some more vital strategic American assets off to democratic muslim Christian killer nations in the next 3 years, eh?
