HORSHAM, Pa. - Filmmaker Morgan Spurlock apologized for cursing, calling teachers pot smokers and making insensitive remarks about "retarded" students during a recent speech to Hatboro-Horsham High School students. "It is never my intent to insult or demean anyone - and I understand how some of my remarks may have offended some in attendance and if you feel they did, then I am deeply sorry," he wrote in "A Letter of Explanation," posted last weekend on his blog.
Spurlock, who ate nothing but McDonald's meals for 30 days to make his Oscar-nominated 2004 documentary "Super Size Me," spoke for about an hour Friday to 700 students in conjunction with a health and wellness fair.
But officials considered Spurlock's speech so inflammatory that principal Dennis Williams Jr. cut it short and the Hatboro-Horsham Education Foundation canceled his scheduled evening talk to the community. Spurlock may not be paid for his appearance. Junior Michelle Berlin, 17, of Hatboro, said Monday students thought the speech was funny at the time, but many have since reconsidered.
Although some in attendance believe Spurlock commented on "retarded kids in the back wearing helmets," he said in his blog that he only referred to himself as retarded and that the comment about helmets was meant as a "slacker reference" to a character in the upcoming film "Benchwarmers."
There actually were special education students in the back row. Teachers led them out during the presentation. "Having done work with special needs children in the past, something this hurtful would never come from my lips," he wrote.
Spurlock said his reference to teachers smoking pot was a joke meant to amuse students. He did not address allegations that he had insulted certain racial or ethnic groups such as Indians or Mexicans.
yeah my thoughts exactly.
It's a "new age" apology. I apologize for you being offended instead of being sorry for my own offensive behavior...that actually caused the offense.
So yes, it is a "non-apology apology".
Maybe you would, maybe you wouldn't. But your chances of voting Democrap would increase substantially ;^)
Yep, and with a big helping of "Oh, I was only joking!" thrown in.
And yet it did.
Frankly, the school got what they paid for. If they didn't know this guy was a jerk, they just have not been paying attention.
You hire a jerk to make a speech, he's going to say stupid things. DUH!
I think people think it makes them sound smart, like a lawyer or something. In fact, it just makes a person sound like a pretentious jerk who is trying to weasel out of something.
Another "compassionate" liberal shows his true colors...
Spurlock hasn't gotten over his dud of a tv show crashing & burning a while back. He is a low talent.

I don't like that kind of tentative talk in apologies, either/ "IF I MIGHT had said anything, that MAY have offended...."
That's just not an apology. To me, a meaningful apology at least must 1. unambiguously acknowledge that the person has done wrong, and 2. isn't heavily solicited.
Obviously not as publicized by the media was a story of a woman who ate at McDonald's for 30 days and actually lost weight and was healthier. She was doing it to prove it's about what people choose to eat. Most of her meals were the salads.
How does Michael Moore do it??
Choice clearly makes a difference when eating fast food. By eating salads and a low-calorie/fat dressing, I wouldn't be surpised if she did indeed lose weight.
However, you've got to wonder how many people who do eat at McDonald's a few times a week pick the salad option over the Big Mac, Large Fries and Coke choice....
I'd love to see a breakdown on sales nationally. I wonder what percentage of McD's sales are the more healthy options.
PING
Enough of the false left-right paradigms. Morgan Spurlock is an inbred NWO globalist propagandist. He doesn't give a rat's ass about liberals, conservatives, Democrats, or Republicans. All he cares about are his fellow NWO butt-buddies. After all, he admits to being a card-carrying member of the ACLU, a communist organization which cares not about "civil liberties" but about "equal treatment", which unfortunately also means "equal enslavement".
