Let's offer to buy Mexico and carve it up into several new States, like the Louisiana Purchase.
Ugh - that last Durbin amendment is a "route to citizenship," not just a legal alien status. It's an incentive to come into the country by age 16, keep nose clean (no criminal record), obtain associate degree or serve in the military -> citizenship.
The Committee just voted the bill out of Committee. Title VII (judicial review) not completed here, but left for the future. Frist will substitute this bill for his, tomorrow. That cuts off the DEM threat of obstruction for taking it up.

If they keep going for the Durbin amendments then all Illegal immigration will become legal migration. The Legal Migration Bill. That, unfortunately, sounds like what it is.
This is really pissing me off....

What a jerk...I can't believe I'm hearing Spector telling the CSPAN media "it was a long day" "Extraordinary, for a Monday"...they were there for just over 7 hours!!!!!
Give me a F-in break!!

I think, if any third party had a half a chance of winning in future elections, they would use footage of the treason that we are witnessing, as you so accurately described, in their campaigns.

I did a double-take on that too...I am really, really disappointed with their effort and I'm not necessarily a hardliner on this issue. We deserved a much more serious and thoughtful process instead we get a chairman who seemed to tire too easily in the face of the hard work that should have been done.

Visa holders (aka, those who came here legally) are getting hit harder if they overstay their Visa than the illegals who sneak in across the border.
Illegals basically get a free pass.

This was really a pissin' match between Frist and Specter. Specter was desperate to get a committee bill on the floor. This is not even the first round.
To: TomGuy
It is like they are avoiding even acknowledging that there are people sneaking across the border.
To: Cboldt
Are you watching Brit's show??
They are discussing Justice Scalia's speech...some are calling for him to now have to recuse himself...and Roberts is already OFF the case of Hamden.
And NOW the Hamden case could go 4-4 tomorrow...YIKES!
