It's evidently what exactly happened, not any doubt about who was present. All sides, including US, concur that Us troops were involved. It's what they were involved in that is now being discussed.
Do we know how long this operation took? I have a hard time believing that our troops are taking fire AND binding and blindfolding women and children with the objective of executing them. Sounds more like they were already bound and used as pawns, but that's just me.

Given US troops were in some way involved, we ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE DUMDUM BULLETS.
The only thing we use is either straight Ball ammo FMJ(Full metal jacket) or Tracer ( FMJ + incindiary).
