Sad. May Mrs. Byrd rest in peace. Say what you want about Robert Byrd, but I never included him in the sneaky scumbag liar category of Leahy, Kennedy, Reid, Boxer, Rockefeller, Schumer, and Durbin

Prayers to Senator Byrd and his family. Losing a spouse has to be awful . . . losing one you've had for a lifetime, and whom you loved as much as it was obvious he loved Mrs. Emma, has to be so much worse.

I lost the love of my life in my 40's and at 54 years old I'm still not over it. After decades together this must be devastating. G*d bless all.

Awwww.... It's going to be very, very hard for him to go on with his life. They have been together for many, many years. I pray for him to be strong.

Lost Mr. Redhead after 30 years, just 3 years ago, and I still cry for some of the memories. It will be very hard for the Senator. I hope his family is supportive and strong for him.

if a GOP senator's wife had pass away..I think the dummies would be jumping on her grave. Well, we all remember how they danced on President Reagan's grave.
Not to mention how they celebrated when Rush Limbaugh had hsi pill problem, only to act offended when conservatives refused to celebrate when Bill Clinton had his heart problem not too long thereafter. For some reason, our refusal to celebrate it -- our extension of sympathies even to someone we disliked as strongly as Klintoon -- seemingly offended them.

This is very sad. God Bless them both. I don't expect he'll last long, the other spouse of long marriages rarely does. My mother-in-law died four months after her husband and they had been married 68 years.
