His paintings hang in one of twenty US homes, and this is the first time I ever heard of this guy. But the painting does look sort of familiar from somewhere or other:

Does anyone ever think like me and think "If I really did have a house that close to a creek and if it ever rained more than 1 inch my house would flood"?
I guess my art appreciation is not as developed as my common sense.

Maybe you've seen it on a greeting card,
or a calendar,
or a coffee mug,
or a print,
or a t-shirt.

There is also a detectable sheen of oil in the creek. It is no doubt coming from a leak in the line that supplies fuel for the lamp post. The reason you see no people is because they have been evacuated due to the threat of expolosion. That snowman may be headed over the moon at any moment.
What drama!

I hope the owner of that house has some govt. sponsored flood insurance.

"luridly idyllic" indeed. Actually, I've always thought that too about this guy's stuff...great phrase.
So perfect they seem creepy.

They all look the same. My parents have his stuff all over their house. I like landscapes and paintings that tell a picture but that's junk

What's up with the evil grinning red-horned demon on the lower right?
Oh, it's a Christmas wreath on the light pole. Never mind.
