down goes Apple... I'd use OS X if I didn't have to buy their over priced hardware.

I might do this myself someday but I'm not in a rush because I can't think of much reason to use the Mac OSX. But it sounds like a cool project.

Question is, why would you want to? Aren't there easier ways to mess up a PC? I mean, in theory at least you could simply take the PC out to the shooting range and a couple dozen rounds of 308 ammo....

Frankly, I prefer Apple hardware to Dell's, reasoning that the quality/integration is more than covered by the pricing difference.

I just got a last-edition PPC iMac for my kids, and it is literally a beautiful experience.

I just have to wonder; does Apple actually support this in some sort of flavor? I mean, theres a small army out there hacking Apples OS for use on "other" hardware than what is "approved". All the while, it's being done for free..

Perhaps I'm just an odd man out, but as much as I dislike the Windows OS, I like mac's even less.

I simply replace explorer.exe with litestep.exe and viola!

SSE3 emulator... lol

5x0, 5x5, 5x9, 5x0j, 5x5j, 5x9j, 5x1, 5x6, 6x0, 6x1, 6x2 etc all have SSE3, the emulator is for Willamette, Northwood, and early versions of the Intel P4 Xeon and Xeon MP CPUs (often refered to as Foster, Prestonia, and Gallatin)

The newer AMD processors have SSE3... since Dell owns Alienware now, the OS will work on those too.

Nothing special about "Core Duo" or whatever marketing crap they use to trick the unwashed masses with...

Understandable since the source code of OS X is *nix* based. So it was a matter of time before hackers managed to get it to run on other than Apple computers.

Caring about the OS is so 1990's.

The world does its business on-line now...in browsers. It's the browser that matters, not the OS.

Just more proof that the world is ready for an entirely new OS.

Working on it. Coming up (and with less crapola than windows "Vista"...)

Apple had to know this was going to happen. It was the first thing that I thought of when I heard that they were going to start using Intel chips.

This was going to happen sooner or later, but every update Apple puts out could invalidate their patches and most people who want a Mac want it because it is a Mac. If you want a UNIX/LINUX OS there are plenty of good ones to be had for less trouble.
