Now hear this:
Thanks to John McCain, Free Republic will shut down tomorrow at high noon for 30 days. No non government approved electioneering messages may be transmitted over the internet for the 30 days immediately preceding a primary election.
That is all.
The above exercise was just a drill. But if John McCain has his way with his proposed rules for regulating political free speech on the internet, this is how we will be forced to operate in the coming election cycle and all election cycles in the future until we can get the unconstitutional McCain-Feingold act repealed.

If the thought of losing your right to express yourself online makes you mad, it is high time you let Senator John McCain know how you feel.

hello? I read this thing called the first amendment . . . it was in this crazy little document called "The Bill of Rights." Did I just imagine it?
John Mccain, YAAFM.
All political websites will be subject to the same rules. Well, I'm guessing the New York Times Forum and similar sites will get a pass because they're tied to the press and the press is exempt. (don't know why the 1st and 14th amendments no longer apply)
You're welcome Cindy. :-)
Now, for snicks, imagine asking her to don a burkah?
My guess is, she and her generation would kick your teeth out. And McCains, and Hillary's, and Osama's...etc. The list is sooo long.
No, it's simpler than that.
McCain is a crook and he proved it with his role in the "Keating Five". "Campaign reform" for McCain is just his cheap, misguided way of trying to "make amends" and prove to himself and to the world that he's really not a crook. Yet his idea of "reform" always translates into, "Stop me before somebody comes along with a pot of money and corrupts me again!"
In McCain's world, ALL politicians are inevitably corrupted by campaign money because they are powerless to resist. You know - - because they're all crooks.
Like him.
I might need a new keyboard. But I'll get one. And they'll have to pry it from my cold dead hands.
I'm amazed at the amount of whining going on as a result of JimRob's post. This is a call to action, not to despair. If something is going on that we don't like, we FIX IT! We call, we write, we make so much noise that we get a hearing. This is a wake-up call. Put your damn hankies and alternate websites away and start drafting some lucid, RESPECTFUL messages that you're going to deliver to your legislators tomorrow as soon as the offices open.
This is not a broadcast, and it's not a polling place. It's a place we make a choice to visit, and as such, it and the rest of the internet should be exempt from the horror of McCain-Feingold (who by the way is dangerously incompetent). Make that point clear! Tell everyone you can find!
You can resume your tears, or you can do something.
The thread I posted above is the way we'll have to operate in the coming election cycle and all election cycles in the future if John McCain successfully pushes through his new regulations for political speech on the Internet. We should know more by Monday.
There should be a limit to free speech ~ Hillary Clinton.
Why worry about Hillary when we have McLame?
Hera are a few articles that helped me understand this a little better. Thought I would post them...

Will do more phoning tomorrow and send hard-copy letters.
Are you aware of this?
Georgia Guidestones link http://www.radioliberty.com/stones.htm
Here's the text on the stones . . . funded by the likes of McCain's funder--George Soros though done anonymously--so who knows specifically--but that ilk of crew, anyway:
*Let these be a guidestone to an age of reason.
*Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
*Guide reproduction wisely - improving fitness and diversity.
*Unite humanity with a living new language.
*Rule Passion - Faith - Tradition - and all things with tempered reason.
*Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
*Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
*Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
*Prize truth - beauty - love - seeking harmony with the infinite.
*Be not a cancer on the Earth - Leave room for nature. (written twice)
I think that's the mentality we are fighting with this law against free expression.
It's the first . . . rather HARD . . . evidence I've found for the NWO plan to reduce the world's population to 500,000,000.
Wake-up, folks, while there's still light enough to fight.
Yes, you imagined it, as it is in the Constitution.
In case anyone is still giving money to the republican party... hopefully not, but if so, check out these folks:
http://www.clubforgrowth.org/why.php
They are making real change to shrinking government. The Republican party is not.
By the way, you almost gave my wife (repogirl) heart failure. She loves the free republic. In fact, I think we were both freepers before we met and it was one of the sites we both mentioned as a source for conservative information.
but was it a living, breathing document dream?
I think your eloquence is far more accomplished than mine.
I agree thoroughly.
Have felt that way increasingly most of my 60 year adult life.
And then the good communicators--except for Reagan--tend to be shallow, glib shysters.
God have mercy on us all . . . and move us to Godly, patriotic actions!
