Now hear this:
Thanks to John McCain, Free Republic will shut down tomorrow at high noon for 30 days. No non government approved electioneering messages may be transmitted over the internet for the 30 days immediately preceding a primary election.
That is all.
The above exercise was just a drill. But if John McCain has his way with his proposed rules for regulating political free speech on the internet, this is how we will be forced to operate in the coming election cycle and all election cycles in the future until we can get the unconstitutional McCain-Feingold act repealed.

If the thought of losing your right to express yourself online makes you mad, it is high time you let Senator John McCain know how you feel.

Great. Will look for the new ed. Gave my old one away in China, as I recall.
Nothing they have done is 'traitorous' by definition of the word. We may disagree with their views but it is not traitorous. However I have voiced my opinion regularly amongst friends, family, on the opinion pages, and letters to my Congressional representatives. Unfortunately according to some, if the person has an R by their name, they can do no wrong.
Time to set-up a peer-to-peer network for us freepers. Something like the file-sharing network Gnutilla.
Then, according to you, we have a few years left.
Imagine the Soviet Union, is America like that yet?
You're welcome.

And the media still thinks that McLame can win the pubbie nomination for president.
Pheh.
We might have to assemble, peacefully, in a public place.
Unless that has also become illegal...
Understand.
Though I do think their actions are traitorous to the Constitution and our founding values.
Congrats on all your labors. Great. Thanks.
Please keep up the good work!

i THINK that's a very important goal.
I would hope Jim would at least allow it, if not support it. But I don't know.
I'll do it.
Happy for all supportive actions.
THX.
Yeah, nice try.
John McCAIN conceptualized this abomination.
John MCCAIN fostered his relationship with the media and used his status as "Republican" to blackmail his collegues in the Senate and the President in the White House at a low period for the administration. The Supreme Court allowed it to stand.
YES, they are ALL not free of blame and deserve any critism that comes there way for this.
But don't dare try to peddle the majority of blame at the President's desk. the man that conceptualized it, wrote, pushed it, twisted arms for it and held other items on the agenda hostage deserves that special seat in Hell. And it is JOHN McCAIN that seeks to benefit most from it.
I know my enemy, You apparently don't.
Well put. Good points.
W has an allergy against the veto pen. He's the only President in history (there was a graph posted here a couple of days ago) who has not exercised a veto.
I am convinced that there is a kind of pathology at play, like the guy who shows up to work every day, even when he's sick as a dog, and infects the rest of the factory, so that when he "retires" at the age of 72, and gets his gold (plated) pin for "perfect attendance" (instead of a pension), he can glow like a happy little glow-worm, proud about how he really showed 'em, he really showed 'em all!
And why? Because when he was a kid, he got in trouble for cutting classes, knocking off early, and in general, "not taking things seriously", provoking his stern, cold, "New England Gentleman" father to take him aside, and give him precisely one scolding, in which he looked him in the eye, said, "I'm very disappointed in you, son. You've embarrassed the Family Name. Now try and make something of the rest of your life."
There really are people like that. Kids who "fail to excel", but work like mad to make sure they never miss a day, and are never late for even one class. Incapable of anything approaching "greatness", yet, obsessed with the notion that they must make some kind of "legacy" for themselves, they fixate on something trite, such as the perfect attendance record -- or, "The President who Never Vetoed Anything."
It's a very serious upcoming problem. Some U.S. Senators, John McCain, Russ Feingold and Hillary Clinton to name a few, want to shut down any political cross talk on the Internet. In essence, control freedom of speech and expression on the net. It's going to cause a First Amendment showdown.
I'm amazed at how people that take an oath to defend and uphold the U.S. Constitution, are the first to tear it up to satisfy their own agendas. The down side of this argument is, I don't trust the present fickle five Gods on the Supreme Court. They found a way to reword the U.S. Constitution, to take private property (Kelo v. City of New London) for private use, so they can do the same with freedom of speech!
