(Fairfax, VA) Both the Kansas State Senate and House of Representatives voted to override Governor Sebelius veto of the National Rifle Association (NRA)-backed Right-to-Carry legislation, Senate Bill 418, The Personal and Family Protection Act.
After 12 years, it took a collective, bi-partisan effort to win this fight. Kansas now joins 46 other states who enjoy some form of Right-to-Carry, NRA Chief Lobbyist Chris W. Cox declared.
The Kansas State Senate voted 30 to 10 to override Governor Sebelius veto of the Right-to-Carry legislation. Less than a day later, the Kansas House of Representative voted 91-33 to sustain the override.
Cox continued, We want to recognize the steadfast support of several state leaders. Without their hard work, Kansans would still be deprived of this valuable law. Senator Phil Journey, Representative Candy Ruff, and Representative Gary Hayzlett worked tirelessly on this measure and we thank them.
Kansas becomes the 47th state with some form of Right-to-Carry. There are now three states that do not allow any form of Right-to-Carry; Nebraska, Illinois and Wisconsin have yet to pass such self-defense legislation.
As always, we appreciate the commitment and participation of our members in Kansas for helping pass this legislation and helping override the Governors veto of this self-defense law, concluded Cox.
Uh, I think there already is one.
I guess I will have to take lessons from my buddy who owns The Bullet Hole.
Like Imus.
It's not that difficult here in NY. $150, 4 references and infinite patience (stated 6 month background check is closer to 1 year).
Bank on it.
The only problem is that the winds in Kansas are so strong that the slugs turn around and come right back at you.

FOr such a red state, why does nebraska not have a right to carry?
I New York is this true upstate? I thought it was local issue.
Now that it is passed, lobby to have a the training exemption waived for persons with honorable military service. That should be an easy amendment. I note from your tag line you may have served in MA, where the local police chief may wave the training requirement.
Because their unicameral legislature has a knucklehead in a leadership position who blocks the legislation every time.
The good news is he's about to be term-limited out the door.
Many years ago I lived in Pennsylvania and one day found myself in a gun store in the great state of Maryland. I inquired as to whether the state had laws whereby one could get a permit to carry a concealed weapon. The clerk laughed and said, "Yeah, there is a law for such permits. But just try and get one!"
Iowa already has "may" issue. In the same sense that you "may" get a permit in NJ or MD. When there are snowball fights in the sahara, when pigs fly, etc....
Re your post 32, go to www.packing.org. They have great information on which states recognize other states' permits.
Let me guess, The Kansas Governor is a RAT ?
I have occasionally heard ads for his store on the radio. The 2nd Amendment gunstore was located nearby, but I believe that it went out of business. Keep safe, beware the prosecutors!
BINGO!
Anyone ever had to renew an expired Utah CCW?
Although I have a current Idaho CCW, I wouldn't mind renewing the Utah if there's not alot to it.
In a truly red state you don't have to deal with as many boneheads, so the concealed carry fight is less of a concern. I've been packing the heat in my car for 15 years since I moved to Kansas. My county police chief told me that his officers were instructed not to ask specifically about concealed weapons during traffic stops. It was already legal to carry your weapon loaded and in your hand as you drove, so long as you didn't point it at folks or brandish it in a menacing fashion. Now I will be able to legally keep a revolver hidden under the seat or in the glove box in addition to my shotgun in the trunk by the spare tire and jack. A stainless steel Ruger Vaquero in 45 Long Colt with pearl handles is inexpensive happiness and peace of mind. I feel a lot better about stopping to help stranded motorists when I know I've probably got them out gunned.
That'll leave a mark.
I hope the R beats Sebellius to death on this one. It'll be funny to watch the D's scream how 'unfair' it was that she lost re-electon on this 'wedge' issue that didn't really matter.
