This is gotta be one of the world's most facist stings ever devised. 2200 people arrested while sitting at the bar.
Just imagine all the lives ruined, not to mention the income generated by those this texas gestapo captured.
This is as unbelievable as it is unforgivable.

This is gotta be one of the world's most facist stings ever devised. 2200 people arrested while sitting at the bar. Yeah.
In Seattle, they'd build 'em a multimillion dollar apartment complex where they could drink all they want and hang out rent-free on the taxpayers tab.

Drunk people? At a bar? Who knew?
Seriously though, I've always marveled at the seperation between talk and action re things like drunk driving. Everyone knows where to catch a ton of technically drunk drivers: Right outside just about any bar at night.
But that's rarely done.
I think the reason is everyone wants to be seen to be tough on drunk driving, but its just posturing.

They didn't get enough of them!
We have a FReeper laying in a Texas hospital fighting for his life as I type this.
He was hit by a drunk driver yesterday as he stood waiting to cross the street.

Someone in Texas has gone seriously insane to do this.
Texas is, excuse me, used to be a place where you measured distance by the six pack.
Freedom is much more important than safety. I'll take my chances with freedom.

This Freeper does not have to "imagine" the destructive force of alcohol. The subject of Texas and alcohol touches a special place in my heart, but it has nothing to do with sympathy for the drunks. Sorry.

Obviously, this is more important than finding terrorists and illegals!

"The arrests included people who were drunk in bars, who sold alcohol to a drunk person,"
Isn't that the purpose of a bar in the first place? What a waste of time. I know some of the social conservatives on here love the idea of a governement that tells folks what to do but I hate big nanny state government.
To: takenoprisoner
Either bring back prohibition or leave the drunks in bars alone. These fascistic nanny-state tactics are ridiculous.
And the fact that there are freepers defending this crackdown on freedom is pathetic.

What is even more stupid is that the bars were in hotels and it was hotel guests that were charged. These people were going nowhere near a vehicle!

I thought Texas law enforcement claimed they lacked the man-power and resources to seek out Illegal Aliens after they crossed the border, but somehow, has now come up with what is needed to infringe on the individual liberties of our own people. Oh the shame of it all.

If you want to get stumbling drunk, do it at home. Why is that too much for you?
