GOP Would Have Booted Jesus: Hill
New York Post Online ^ | March 23, 2006 | MAGGIE HABERMAN

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton ratcheted up her talk about religion yesterday - saying a GOP-sponsored bill making it a felony to be in the United States illegally would have "criminalized" Jesus.

Clinton, who's considered the Democratic front-runner for the 2008 White House race, made the comments at a hastily scheduled news conference about the House-passed bill aimed at illegal immigrants.

So you would encourage people to break the law based on the teachings of Jesus?

Is that your position?

I would really like her to try to defend her rabid support of KILLING the least of us THE UNBORN. But in Hitlery's world she gets to decide WHO lives and dies. And the wetbacks are sure fire $2.00 an hour cheap labor. After all, her little angel never worked a day in her life.

I thought that all the anti-Jewish rhetoric was coming from the Democrats.

Thank you both.

The sound of Hillary calculatedly quoting scripture to gain political advantage made my blood turn cold. But so does the attitude of some around here.

I support the President's plan as a humane, fair and law abiding approach to the problem.

What does the story of the good Samaritan have to do with illegal immigration?

Where in the scriptures does it say the man in the road was in the country illegally?

I believe in helping people who are in need, and in fact many here consider me pro-illegal immigration for some of my views.

But I don't see how ANYBODY on either side can support distorting and misapplying the Word of God for their own selfish purposes....as Hillary clearly has done.

This "woman" is just plain mean, scary, wicked, and BAD!
This also makes no sense, but then, what do we expect from Hillary.

Do you think in the name of loving thy neighbor we should do away with borders and immigration laws?

No, but there are several issues being mixed together on this thread.

The Church has always helped the strangers, yes, the illegal aliens, and making a crime to assist the illegal aliens is repulsive to the Church.

The Samaritans were similar to illegal aliens. The Samaritans were aliens brought to Israel by the Assyrians after the Israelites were kicked out by force. The Samaritans were living in stolen land.

When the Israelites came back to their land, they despised the Samaritans as interlopers, illegal aliens, and thiefs of their lands. There was intense hatred between the Samaritans and the Jews.

Nevertheless, Jesus told his disciples that the Samaritans were their neighbors, and they should love them. He then proceeded to illustrate his point with the Good Samaritan parable.

The government, on the other hand, must enforce our immigration laws. The priests and nuns should not have to do the government dirty work though.

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. John 10:1"

Raycpa;The US is heaven?

This scripture is NOT about anyone "sneaking" into HEAVEN.
The "sheepfold" is representative of the Church, and Christians here on earth.

It doesn't surprise me that you agree with Hillary's absurd attempt at Bible teaching. Your comprehension of scripture seems to be rather poor.

What God says about politics

Ecc 10:2 A wise man's heart directs him toward the right, but the foolish man's heart directs him toward the left.
Ecc 10:3 Even when the fool walks along the road, his sense is lacking and he demonstrates to everyone that he is a fool.

True, but neither should they be actively opposing the government, or helping people to break the law.

It is you missing what the topic is. I can appreciate you not condoning someone breaking the law to get here. If it becomes illegal to "love your neighbor" though, then what are you going to do?

If the law prohibits a hot meal to an illegal alien, that is breaking God's law, don't you think?

I didnt't address my post 2u. Your attempt to read a "prohibition on spreading the Gospel here at home" into Mark 16:15 is mean spirited at best. Most concede that the early churchs' persecution(Stephen, etc.) covered in early Acts caused the disciples out into the world and resulted in the rapid growth of Christianity. This whole post is comparing apples to oranges.

I didn't mean to be mean-spirited - that's honestly how I read your post - I will concede I seem to be in full-defense mode on this thread, so I could have just given you a knee-jerk reaction. I'm glad you don't think that.

Now, please read this section from HR 4437:

". . . assists, encourages, directs, or induces a person to reside in or remain in the United States, or to attempt to reside in or remain in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such person is an alien who lacks lawful authority to reside in or remain in the United States;"

How can you guarantee that section of the law will NOT be used against private charities?

"How can you guarantee that section of the law will NOT be used against private charities?" VERY SIMPLE: IT'S ALL ABOUT NUMBERS. By the way if a "hot meal" was illegel I'm sure a sandwich would suffice. We are to live peaceable with all men afterall. You could GO INTO the world and feed them their hot meal in their legal home.

True, but neither should they be actively opposing the government, or helping people to break the law.

Currently, when an American calls ICE to report illegal aliens, ICE agents seldom show up to investigate. [More like never, but let's be generous to the ICE folks.]

When an American sheriff calls ICE to report illegal aliens detained in the sheriff's station, ICE agents rarely show up to pick up the illegal aliens.

I have read reports of jailers calling ICE to pick illegal aliens, convicted of violent felonies, and ICE agents have dragged their feet to the point to felons have been released to the public at large.

Since the federal government refuses to do its job, why do we need a new law to turn priests and nuns into government informers?

That government is best which governs least. We don't need another federal law that can be applied selectively to the priest and nuns, despite the current Congressmen's assurances.

What about making it a felony for ICE agents not to respond to reports of illegal aliens by average Joes? Stupid? As stupid as turning nuns/priests into government informers.

My $0.02

I'm sorry. Maybe I missed something.
What law requires priests and nuns become government informers who rat on illegals?
