Not a foreign legion but more along the lines of how Commonwealth Nations can send their citizens to serve in the UK military.

Interesting but I suspect that Americans would get a much higher pay rate than regular Russian army regulars. That can't be good for unity.

It does not make much of a difference, considering that the Belrussian and Kazakh militaries are pretty much owned by Russia now.

Surely, most CIS countries wouldn't want to do that, I presume. Wouldn't most of them distrust Russia?

No, they don't because most of the people in the CIS countries speak Russian and rely on Russia as their main trade and military supply partner. Many CIS countries also agree with Russian foreign policy.
