Hello, my name is Gee Bee Jr. I'm excited to do a thread for the Canteen! I hope you enjoy. I'd like to share with you how we got our dog. I'd love to hear about your pet(s)!
After years of my Mom trying to convince my Dad, we were finally going to get a dog. One day we went looking for our new dog. My Mom and I went to a shelter. We didn't find a dog. As we were driving home, I had a paper from the shelter that gave other dog shelters with phone numbers. I saw another shelter that we could visit and told my mom. My Mom said, she had enough looking for the day and the last shelter just broke her heart. We wanted to bring all the dogs home. I did talk her into calling.
My Mom called the shelter and they said, two puppies had just arrived an hour ago. We went to go see them. When we got there, Spot or as we call her now, Audie, our dog was there with her brother. We fell in love. My dad didn't want a dog but he loves her so much now. She greets him with excitement every night when he returns home. She is a Dachshund/Terrier mix. Here's a picture of our dog. Look at her eyes, they are so sweet.
I love having Audie to play with, cuddle with and take walks with. She has become a member of our family.
Yelling at me for barking...I'M A DOG, YOU NUMBSKULL!
Taking me for a walk, then not letting me check stuff out. Exactly Whose walk is this anyway?
Any trick that involves balancing food on my nose...Stop it!
Any haircut that involves bows or ribbons. Now you know why we chew Your stuff up when you're not home.
The sleight of hand, fake fetch throw. You fooled a dog! Woooo-Hooooooo! Oh, what a proud moment for the top of the food chain.
Taking me to the vet for "the big snip", then acting surprised when I Freak out every time we go back!
Dog sweaters. Hello??? Haven't you noticed the fur?
Here are a few websites, I have enjoyed visiting.
This is a website, you pick a dog or two, and you get to take care of it, breed it, do tricks and even go into shows. Show Dog
What type of dog are you?? Take the test. Gone to the Dogs
Visit President Bush and First Lady Lauras dogs Barney and Miss Beazley. Fun videos and pictures. Barney & Miss Beasley

Planning for the After-Life (R)
Joke Submitted By: old gray haired dude
An Irishman named O'Malley went to his doctor after a long
illness.
The doctor, after a lengthy examination, sighed and looked
O'Malley in the eye, and said, "I've some bad news for you.
You have cancer, and it can't be cured. I'd give you two
weeks to a month to live."
O'Malley was shocked and saddened by the news, but of solid
character. He managed to compose himself and walk from the
doctor's office into the waiting room. There, he saw his son
who had been waiting. O'Malley said, "Well son, we Irish
celebrate when things are good, and we celebrate when things
don't go so well. In this case, things aren't so well. I have
cancer,
and I've been given a short time to live. Let's head for the
pub and have a few pints."
After three or four pints, the two were feeling a little
less somber. There were some laughs and more beers. They were
eventually approached by some of O'Malley's old friends who
asked what the two were celebrating. O'Malley told them that
the Irish celebrate the good and the bad. He went on to tell
them that they were drinking to his impending end. He told
his friends, "I've only got a few weeks to live as I have
been diagnosed with AIDS."
The friends gave O'Malley their condolences, and they had a
couple more beers.
After his friends left, O'Malley's son leaned over and
whispered his confusion. "Dad. I though you said that you
were dying from cancer??? You just told your friends that you
were dying from AIDS!"
O'Malley said, "I am dying of cancer, son. I just don't want
any of them sleeping with your mother after I'm gone.
