Hello, my name is Gee Bee Jr. I'm excited to do a thread for the Canteen! I hope you enjoy. I'd like to share with you how we got our dog. I'd love to hear about your pet(s)!
After years of my Mom trying to convince my Dad, we were finally going to get a dog. One day we went looking for our new dog. My Mom and I went to a shelter. We didn't find a dog. As we were driving home, I had a paper from the shelter that gave other dog shelters with phone numbers. I saw another shelter that we could visit and told my mom. My Mom said, she had enough looking for the day and the last shelter just broke her heart. We wanted to bring all the dogs home. I did talk her into calling.
My Mom called the shelter and they said, two puppies had just arrived an hour ago. We went to go see them. When we got there, Spot or as we call her now, Audie, our dog was there with her brother. We fell in love. My dad didn't want a dog but he loves her so much now. She greets him with excitement every night when he returns home. She is a Dachshund/Terrier mix. Here's a picture of our dog. Look at her eyes, they are so sweet.
I love having Audie to play with, cuddle with and take walks with. She has become a member of our family.
Yelling at me for barking...I'M A DOG, YOU NUMBSKULL!
Taking me for a walk, then not letting me check stuff out. Exactly Whose walk is this anyway?
Any trick that involves balancing food on my nose...Stop it!
Any haircut that involves bows or ribbons. Now you know why we chew Your stuff up when you're not home.
The sleight of hand, fake fetch throw. You fooled a dog! Woooo-Hooooooo! Oh, what a proud moment for the top of the food chain.
Taking me to the vet for "the big snip", then acting surprised when I Freak out every time we go back!
Dog sweaters. Hello??? Haven't you noticed the fur?
Here are a few websites, I have enjoyed visiting.
This is a website, you pick a dog or two, and you get to take care of it, breed it, do tricks and even go into shows. Show Dog
What type of dog are you?? Take the test. Gone to the Dogs
Visit President Bush and First Lady Lauras dogs Barney and Miss Beazley. Fun videos and pictures. Barney & Miss Beasley

OH WONDERFUL! thanks so much for the heads up & I LOVE the story GodBlessUsa (JUNIOR) regarding how you got your precious Audie! and how this pooch stole his way into Dad's life!
Great job..
I have had a long day.. including a long walk with my two dogs & my friend & his two dogs(long walk= 2.5 hours of ROUGH terrain/water/ravines etc). My dogs run free through the forest & have a great time.
BTW.. any singles here who aren't on the singles "ping list"? I am for now the guardian of that list & am trying to get some structure to the weekend threads.
I need sleep. Have an early busy day ahead.
thank you again for directing me here!

Hi Dolly
Thank You! Wow, what a hike you had today. Sounds fun. You must be in excellent shape to do that type of terrain for 2.5 hours. Terrific! My goal for 2006. :) You must be tired. Sleep well. See you soon. :)
