There are as many or more restrictions on foreign ownership of land in Jamaica and other western nations as in the UAE. Are you equally worried about them?
What this recent deal demonstrated is that a clueless Congress should be kept as far away as possible from anything requiring knowledge. However, it well illustrated the ability of Know Nothing Knee Jerkers to screw up vital issues wrt our allies.
There's another major military intervention coming up pretty damn soon, if you've been following the news. And we've had all sorts of lower-level military action going on in areas outside of Afghanistan and Iraq, most especially in the tribal areas of Pakistan.
If our military stance in Iraq is modified by domestic opinion rather than military considerations, then that is a victory for our enemies and domestic opposition alike. I hope that is not something you are counting on.

Thats not the reason Paul. There are eight satellites shared by commercial shippers that observe commercial vessels all over the world. Commercial ships are constantly observed. Dubai is the most modern port in the world and like the US the ships are rigidly tracked up to 30 hrs when arriving or leaving a port. Ships run on a schedule and are not allowed to deviate or stop en-route.
They must maintain a set speed and that speed does not allow boarding. When a ship leaves a port it has a set time to be at the next port terminal. It has a set time to load or unload at the terminal and must leave when specified. If you violate procedures you will be boarded and inspected. You will not be allowed in any port until the security check is completed. Ships do not sail willie nilly anywhere they please. They have a designated route they must adhere. If you refuse to be inspected you will be fired upon. Pleasure vessel are a far more threat than a commercial vessel. Commercial vessels are very well protected. They carry millions and sometimes billions of dollars in cargo. These investment require heavy security.

UAE has provided as much help with the war on terror as ANY ally and maybe more. The bases and harbors are invaluable and make our mission in Iraq and Afganistan infinitely easier. Their assistance with intelligence is also stellar.
Attacks on this ally are the same as attacks upon the military efforts.
So questioning who the U.S. allies REALLY ARE makes us terrorists and traitors.

There were NO national security implications in the Port deal except for the voluntary efforts promised by the UAE to INCREASE security. Hence torpedoing that deal will HURT National Security. And it was blown up based ENTIRELY on lies.
