The pornography that once characterized Times Square in Manhattan and 14th Street, NW, in Washington, D. C. has virtually disappeared from those neighborhoods and moved to college campuses, sometimes literally.

Maybe LeFave should seek employment there.
The reinvention of Time Square a true modern marvel to occur in the later days of the twentieth century...a good thing.
Colleges/universities are beginning to be a national disgrace.
Why excerpt this? Is it on the list?
There is little, if anything, going on at these colleges these days that was not happening 30 years ago when I was in college. Anyone thinking so has had their head in the sand for way too long.
Promiscuity - check
drugs - check
alcohol abuse - check
promiscuity - check (twice - 'cuz there was alot of that)
gays - check
all out in the open. and I went to a little church affiliated school in the rural midwest.
"Beginning to"??? |
Is this for real, I mean come on people.
I guess you should just encourage your children and other young people to eschew college.
As someone who paid way too much for an education, I certainly don't want more job competition, but I could use a larger stable of domestics ;).
I went to a small Christian college about 30 years ago and I can assure you this stuff did not go on. And we also did not have any terrorists enrolled to my knowledge. And I did not know one single homosexual on campus. Imagine that!
And that would be the difference between my "church affiliated" school and your small "Christian" college, I guess.
I'm not terribly surprised at the lack of open gayness, but you would have a hard time convincing me that a certain percentage of the kids attending your school were not engaging in premarital sex. I have to assume that they were simply extremely discreet. But I wasn't there and you were.
Change that number to 40, and then you're wrong!
"Change that number to 40, and then you're wrong!"
Nope, he's not wrong. Forty years ago was 1966. The "Pill" was available. Drinking, drugs, and sex were going on then, just as they are today.
Heck, they were in 1963, when I started college. Don't kid yourself.
So, you wanna matriculate?
"So, you wanna matriculate?"
Now, now. That's something that's best done alone, in privacy.
A lot of English majors go blind while matriculating. :P
O.K. Let's say 45!?!
"O.K. Let's say 45!?!"
OK, let's see....1961...well not so much on the drugs, but there was considerable sex and alcohol. I don't know about the gays...it wasn't my thing.
I was still in High School then, but, yeah...sex and alcohol...check!
Yeah, I think there were a few but they were the "upper class", not freshmen. But that is nothing compared to what is happening these days.
Things have changed. Things have changed a lot.
"Things have changed. Things have changed a lot."
Everything changes over time. Thus has it always been.
Still, sex, alcohol, drugs....they've always been part of college life.
