Bush is right on about the entitlement programs. They are now approaching 50% of federal expenditures and are on automatic pilot under no one's control.

Where does the buck stop these days?

Higher interest rates slow down inflation, which is far more damaging to the economy.

But higher interest rates, while they help to strengthen the dollar, slow down the economy, which is inflationary. In the long run using a cycle of funds rate manipulations doesn't control inflation. The dollar is only worth half of what it was when Reagan took office during a period of supposedly controlled inflation. That's failure in anybody's book except the federal government's.

There is only one way to control inflation, and that's to control government spending and promote economic growth.

Yes, and this is exactly why this issue is crucial and should be a national priority (but isn't).

I have a very legitimate criticism of George Bush because at one of his State of the Union Addresses, his first theme he raised was aid to Africa, not a crucial issue like this!

Bush and Congress can change this "mandatory spending" crap if they both had their priotities focused on the USA, and it is the POTUS's job to get Congress focused. For the future of the nation, it must be addressed.

During Bush's tenure, he has spent at a clip that exceeds all modern day presidents. This spending does not jive with nation that has the trends in social welfare spending and demographics that we have. Unless this is changed, we will not be able to defend our nation, As it is, the trends in Defense spending are sliding down while social welfare spending is soaring, now accounting for 64.5% of all spending.

Write back to him questioning his reading comprehension skills, if you think he was serious about it being the "official" site.

"Reagan did not stand up for our Marines."

I'm young, explain that for me.

And I don't remember the post saying anything about not supporting W, did I miss a post? I thought it was about how Reagan would have handled the press.

Look for the left to complain he "attacked an old woman".

WILD BILL: "Well, mister, you are a cowardly son of a bitch. You just shot an unarmed man!"

WILL MUNNY: "Well, he should have armed himself...if he's going to decorate his saloon with my friend."

it is the POTUS's job to get Congress focused.

Please cite where in Article II it states that the President is the opthamologist for the members of Congress.

Miss Marple, check your transcripts. After the obligatory thank yous and intros and crap like that phrase, Bush made aid to Africa his first theme and actually a first sentence of real meat in one of his State of the Union Addresses.

If you start scratching for minutia like that to make a point, you are admitting your defeat in a debate.

When Reagan was president, our Marine barracks were bombed in Lebanon, and he did nothing to avenge them. As a military family I will never forgive him for that.

So, are you actually trying to hijack this thread into another Bush-bashing immigration festival?

Imagine that, it's like the first time we've ever heard it! But give it your best shot. You may survive a post or two in spite of your miserable self.

Thanks for looking. Knowing this guy I bet he beleives (or wants to beleive) this is true. I often respond to his Bush bashing comments by repling to him with known facts. He can never defend his posistions....

Be ready for the never ending lies the mediaWHORErats will be printing from this news conference! GOD I LOATHE THE RAT MEDIA...

Isn't it going to be interesting to see what tiny snippets the media picks out of this GREAT press conference, to print or show on TV?

I don't know if there were any negative parts, but they'll find them and that's what will be shown over and over again on the HBM. I hate them with a passion.

And FNC had some snarpy on right afte the President so that I had this bad taste in my mouth right after cheering the President on. So much for "fair and balanced". FNC has gone over the edge and has to find the most negative "counter"-balance they can, and I'm tired of it.

Did any of the ABCCBSNBC bring on Repulicians to talk UP the President after they had given their negative running commentary during the presser? Yeah, right. I'm not holding my breath either.
