US President George W. Bush said he hoped to resolve the nuclear dispute with Iran with diplomacy, but warned Tehran he would "use military might" if necessary to defend Israel.
"The threat from Iran is, of course, their stated objective to destroy our strong ally Israel. That's a threat, a serious threat. It's a threat to world peace," the US president said after a speech defending the war in Iraq.
"I made it clear, and I'll make it clear again, that we will use military might to protect our ally Israel," said Bush, who was apparently referring to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's call for the destruction of Israel.
On the atomic dispute, Bush said he hoped "to solve this issue diplomatically" with a "united message" to Tehran from Washington, London, Paris, Berlin as well as Russia "hopefully" and China.
The message would be that "your desire to having a nuclear weapon is unacceptable," he said.
Bush also touched on Iran's agreement to discuss Iraq with the United States, saying that "it's very important, however, for the Iranians to understand that the discussion is limited to Iraq.
"We're using this as an opportunity to make it clear about our concerns of interference within a democratic process that is evolving," he said, saying that the talks will not decide Iran's relations with a sovereign Iraq.
"Ultimately, Iraq-Iranian relations will be negotiated between the Iraqi government and the Iranian government," he said.
yes that broke the back, but they had already lost by then and the outcome was a foregone conclusion. They lost the initiative during that first Moscow campaign and never regained it... their ability to *ever* defeat the USSR went up in smoke when that campaign failed -- in great measure to the blunder of having the spearhead stand down so the rest of the Wehrmacht could catch up: a "safe" move that may have cost the war in the fall 1941...
False statistics? Any proof of that? Stalin argued for a second front from very early on after the Germans attacked him. A little defensive aren't you? I am making my point. Too bad you have stopped trying to make yours. I am done with you.
MOLON LABE
Yes but when Leonidas said those words to Xerxes, he and his Spartans then put up such a fight which allowed the rest of the Greeks time to mass and then put an end to Xerxes Grecian ambitions. Xerxes had to withdraw.
Molon Labe was a sarcastic response which in our day and age would be translated as ..."yeah and over our dead bodies, too!"
So is this waht you meant, this interpretation of Molon Labe...or did you mean "Molon Labe...as in yeah come and get Israel, we won't fight you on the deal!"
I meant it merely as a general term of defiance, which is why I said "very loosely translated".
You are right -- we lever influence in Arabia and Europe both by supporting the ones who lust for Jewish pain. Lust is a potent force and a perennial market force. In Europe and Arabia for some G-d-awful reason there is most definitely a lust for Jewish blood and pain. Not in everyone, thank G-d, but in more than enough of the Powerful of the Nations.
Better we take the damn oil fields by force, imo. And then broker using a different pivot for the lever of trade. Today the lever is the Jews, the Jews in Israel.
Ahhh..got ya...so you catch a wiff of defiance in that statement too.
I just read some interesting info on German air-defense weapons in WWII...The German 88 was primary and excellent for both vertical and horizontal firing, which made it deadly toward planes or TANKS...The info stated that if the Germans didn't need so many 88's for air denense [30,000 total anti-aircraft weapons] they could have DOUBLED their ANTI-TANK arsenal of 88's on the EASTERN Front...another Russian benefit of the Allied Bombing...
Excellent! Bush has clarity of purpose on this issue. I'm not too worried we are going to weasel out.
