The Germans of today (like the rest of Europe) will be replaced come 2050 with Africans and muslims.
One thing they could do, basically change the sex ratio of the country from the natural 1-1 to something like 1 - 8 or 1 - 10, and that 1.33 ratio would be more than adequate to replenish the population. A country of sixty to eighty million people only needs half of them to be men if they figure to have some future need for a 20 million man army, and Germany clearly has no further such needs in the future.
Bill Clinton's supposed to be traveling to Germany soon. I figure that this trend will reverse itself about nine months after that.

When a society becomes hedonistic, children are a nuisance. They cost money and cramp your style.
Germany has been on a steady glide path into oblivion. Economically they are done. Don't expect them to make any large scale turn around in that aspect either. They refuse to fundamentally change "how" they operate and embrace a "social-economy" where the state is near 48% of the GDP, massive subsidies, large elaborate social infrastructure takes care of the common man from cradle to grave. No true sweeping initiatives have been made to change anything since there is consensus within this society that this is the right way to go. They have bought into the idea of "socialism", a word that in Germany is not even negative in connotation. Economically they are - done, finished and history. They culminated in the 80s.
Culturally the Germans are secular and have become near nihilists. They don't care about anything except themselves and the true best way to describe the society is as "hedonistic". Abuse of social structures, no children, the political weaseling of Schroeder, someone like Fischer becoming the Secretary of State all are indicators of a "society" that is in decline. The Germans keep their streets clean, they keep their sidewalks clean and inner cities very tidy. But there is a societal cancer that is eating away at them. The problem is no lack of "children money (Kindergeld)". The problem is that churches today in Germany are empty. Only the old go to church. The new German evolved past that stupid idea. In WWII they were unmoral, today they are amoral. They know "what" they did was wrong, but not really "why"? They can't see the similarities between socialism and the NAZI's (National SOZIALISTICHE Deutsche Arbeiter Partei - NSDAP). Today the new German sees no reason for helping the people in Sudan, they revel in the Schadenfreude from Iraq, in the end, they will not be of much help with Iran. They think they are better than in WWII since they don't stuff people in gas chambers, but they watched as people were exterminated in the Balkans. Not until they were flooded with refugees did they see any reason to intervene. All these things are tied together. There is a grey overlapping zone where the philosophy behind religion spills into how the political institutions, criminal justice system, or even issues of defense are dealt with. How one sees God also defines how you see justice.
