Here is the bottom line to this.

France had a rule that said employees could not work over 35 hours a week. This of course led to higher unemployment and companies leaving. In order to stay competitive France lifted the not over 35hours a week rule.

So having to actually work over 35 hours a week is what brings this riot on. These French weenies are acting as if they cannot quit their job if they do not like their hours. How pathetic from the oh soooo "sophisticated" Europeans... LMAO!

Please see Sarah's post. This is not about workweek hours. This is about a revamping of labor contract regulations. The status quo has been challenged. We Americans have had labor unrest, and we condemn child sweatshops and forced prison labor. It will be interesting to see what the french government does.
