You laugh now, but when you watch Lou Dobbs explain to you what these riots are really about, you'll be purchasing a plane ticket and buying your kerosene & torches.

Cool!
I have a stockpile of Made In USA pitchforks leftover from Y2K that
I can sell to them to help bring down our trade deficit.
How many euros do you think they'll fetch?

Not nearly enough tear gas and busted heads. Do these morons
really think they have a right to not get fired for being lazy bums?

Spoiled little brainless brats with too much free time. Gas them until they "get it."

"France is stuck in socialist economics and any change to become competitive is met with a violent reaction as we are seeing now."

Given a choice btwn less secure jobs or no employers, Francais' petulant utes choose (b).

Cool beans, guys.

Let's add a whole bunch lazy bums to the offensive French scenery: toilets, dog droppings everywhere, the stench, the filthy toilets, and graffiti...oh excuse-moi..."le graffite"

Something just happened - the crowd started running then stopped.

They must've spotted a German tourist down the street.

Chirac is of the Conservative Party. Mitterand began the extreme Left shift in the 80's. It is difficult to alter this course; the curriculum is saturated with Marxist/Socialist dogma. Capitalism, free markets, entrepreneurism is derided or just not mentioned.

France is living on the residuals of a worn out civilization and they are running out.

But France, the ideal of France, is cherished by those who know and love her.

Good point.

Not really. Your original point was well stated and very accurate. To argue with what you had written is just arguing semantics. I'm no Francophile but they without France's help, their wouldn't be a United States today. Of course we paid through the nose to get their help and they were largely motivated to help us only as a way to stick it to the British.

You know, it's really hard for me to rip into your economics's related politics when, on those rare occasions, you crack a funny joke.

""technology leader"? Are you being sarcastic, like, the guillitine or what? "

The french, believe it or not, developed some neat stuff in the early 1900's. They had the most advanced tanks, the best howitzers, I think they had some good innovations in aircraft, too.

I also want to say they developed front wheel drive, independent suspension, monocoque construction..., the food is pretty good too.

Please see the link in 231 to Our Oldest Enemy and read the interview.

France's contribution to our revolution, while helpful, was not altruistic.

They have been our enemy through history far more than they have been our friend.

(I respectfully disagree with you. It WAS a good point.....and historically accurate).

You think that if Muslims rioted in our streets, they would be appeased?

I don't think your 'parallel' holds in a similar situation here.

I beg to differ. I think the parallels would hold true in a heartbeat that the liberals/leftist/pacifist/apologetic/hate-America "patriots"/Dimwits/lunatic left-wing media would all side with the "sorely misunderstood, Islam is a religion of peace" Muslims, and would instantly condemn any retributions or legal or police actions against them. So yes, it could and would happen here, just as it happened in France a few months ago.

they passed some laws which protect employers

No they did not. They passed laws which make it easier to hire someone.

Okay, who puts money into a bank if you can not get it out ? No one does. Ditto for employees. Who hires someone if you can not fire someone ? Ans, almost no one.
