NOPD clears cops in looting probe

They had OK to take clothing, officials say Saturday, March 18, 2006 By Michael Perlstein Staff writer

Four New Orleans police officers have been cleared of looting allegations stemming from a news videotape that shows them taking items from the Uptown Wal-Mart two days after Hurricane Katrina, but the officers were suspended for 10 days for failing to stop civilians from cleaning out the ransacked store, the New Orleans Police Department said Friday.

The video, shot by an MSNBC crew inside Wal-Mart, shows the officers filling a shopping cart with shoes, clothes and other items. In the background, citizens can be seen calmly looting everything from sweaters to bicycles. When a reporter asks the officers what they're doing, one of them responds, "Looking for looters." She then hastily turns her back to the camera.

An Animal Farm moment.

Hat-tip to the Unions and the Communism that spawened them.

...[pensively, to one's self]...is it better to rebuild, so they stay there, or cover it with topsoil and turn it into a nature preserve, which may tend to force them out to other cities and towns...

let's see [speculating cynically], probably they were allowed to contribute hundreds of millions of dollars to rebuilding, and they were allowed to guarantee hundreds of jobs to some of the local citizens, and were allowed to improve whatever neighborhood they were allowed to rebuild in...

If there ever was an area deserving of wet lands protection it is the entire city of NO,LA. Think of all the snail darters that could spawn in that sewer by the sea.

Of course an area almost completely infected with dumbocrap leaches is naturally immune from government laws protecting wet lands.

Is there not some scum bag lawyer willing to test this in court?

"Nothing ever changes"

Yep and nothing ever will. Saw this coming back in Nov. Blame everyone but the true culprits and the lunatics will still run the asylum. Every day brings another reminder that I made the correct decision to SKEEEDADDLE from Lousyana.

Hey look at it like this. The state can serve as America's comedic reality show....worth a laugh or two every day

"It was determined that all four officers had received permission from their commanders to get clothing for fellow officers who were soaking wet. They did not steal anything."

So if a "commander" says it's okay to steal, that makes it legal?
