Saddam Hussein & The Iraq Tapes
News Sarasota, DOD ^ | March 18, 2006 | Matt Bruce

SARASOTA, FL. (NS) -

It can once again be said with absolute certainty that Iraq's Saddam Hussein was giving aid, comfort, money and supplies to al-Qaida who were present in Iraq BEFORE the U.S. led Coalition invaded...

It can also be said with the same certainty that Saddam was destroying and hiding any evidence of his illegal Nuclear and WMD programs as is discussed on the recently released tapes...

Now that President Bush has released the tapes, in Arabic, for the World to decepher, there will be no doubts as to what Saddam was hiding from UN Inspectors and why he din't want them in Iraq...

A clear and concise picture has been painted for all of us to see of what was taking place after the first Iraq War and before the invasion that led to Saddam's ouster as President of Iraq...

The Bush administration Wednesday night released the first declassified documents collected by U.S. intelligence during the Iraq war, showing among other things that Saddam Hussein's regime was monitoring reports that Iraqis and Saudis were heading to Afghanistan after the Sept. 11 attacks to fight U.S. troops.

The documents, the first of thousands expected to be declassified over the next several months, were released via a Pentagon Web site at the direction of National Intelligence Director John Negroponte.

Many were in Arabic - with no English translation - including one the administration said showed that Iraqi intelligence officials suspected al-Qaida members were inside Iraq in 2002.

The Pentagon Web site described that document this way: "2002 Iraqi Intelligence Correspondence concerning the presence of al-Qaida members in Iraq. Correspondence between IRS members on a suspicion, later confirmed, of the presence of an al-Qaida terrorist group. Moreover, it includes photos and names."

The release of the documents, expected to continue for months, is designed to allow lawmakers and the public to investigate what documents from Saddam's regime claimed about such controversial issues as weapons of mass destruction and al-Qaida in the period before the United States invaded Iraq in March 2003.

The Web site cautioned that the U.S. government "has made no determination regarding the authenticity of the documents, validity or factual accuracy of the information contained therein, or the quality of any translations, when available."

A handful of prewar Iraq government documents released Wednesday had been translated into English.

They included one Iraqi intelligence document indicating Saddam's feared Fedayeen paramilitary forces were investigating rumors in the fall of 2001 that as many as 3,000 Iraqis and Saudis were going to fight in Afghanistan after the U.S. invasion.

"In the report on the status of rumors for November of 2001 regarding Fedayeen Saddam in al-Anbar, there is an entry that indicates that there is a group of Iraqi and Saudi Arabians numbering around 3,000 who have gone in an unofficial capacity to Afghanistan and have joined the mujahidin (mujahedeen, or holy warriors) to fight with and aid them in defeating the American Zionist Imperialist attack," the translated document stated.

"After presenting the matter to the Supervisor of Fedayeen Saddam, he ordered that the matter should be looked into for verification of the truth of the rumor," the translation said.

What we all have to keep in mind are that there are over 3,00 hours of audio tapes and over 18,000 boxes of documents containing some 48,000 pages to be read and translated...

The more we learn from these documents, the more we will all understand WHY Saddam had to be removed from power...

We already know Saddam was in violation of many of the UN sanctions regarding his long range missiles he was not supposed to have. We also know there have been large quantities of chemicals found scattered around Iraq. In addition artillery shells containing sarin and mustard gas have been found and used as IED's against Coalition Troops...

ALL of this was in direct VIOLATION of UN Sanctions put against Iraq...

The voices heard on the tapes are not made up, the documents are not fake, and the words spoken or written DO tell the story about Saddam Hussein and Iraq...

After the tapes are read and translated, I wonder how many of the War dissenters and activist's as well as those who use the words "liar" in a manner that they themselves do not understand, will come forward to APOLOGIZE for 'their' actions???

For Now, That's Just 'OUR' Opinion...

This changes nothing. Bush lied, people died. Your Mr. Actor Clooney says so. So move along. There's nothing to see here.

Don't hold your breath! If there's any acknowledgment by the liberal MSM (NY Times for instance) that Bush had a valid reason for attacking Iraq it will be buried back on page twelve next to the obituaries.

Eventhough, this is written sarcastically, one needs to understand this anti-war movement is more about Hating Bush, not war.

The fact the MSM/dems are starting to even use this bogus Censure/Impeachment move shows just how absolutely out of thier everliving minds they've become...

I've asked the question more than one time on these threads if it would surprise anyone if they found out Sadam was at all involved with 911...

Here is the key phrase in that story ...The Web site cautioned that the U.S. government "has made no determination regarding the authenticity of the documents, validity or factual accuracy of the information contained therein, or the quality of any translations, when available."

The MSM will focus in on this one statement and deem all this "information" being put out by the Administration are lies and propaganda from a doomed and failed presidency ... mark my words.

The other way I'm seeing them spin this is that the translators are somehow not understanding what's "actually" being said. There are dozens of ways to spin this--but so far, few of them are very effective. I think this time we've got 'em.

I think you're right- the TOM ( tired old media ) is winding up to spin this one, but with enough people sifting through all the data, the facts will come out. Totalitarian regimes are notorious for documenting everything they do.

Sort of off-topic, but not really- yesterday, in relation to this:

Russ Feingold's "Bush Can Assasinate American Citizens" (Any transcrips of this?)

Rush actually went off on a rant about Waco. Waco has ( far as I recall ) always been a verbooten topic on his program. Mayhap he was just holding fire until the time was ripe for it, and mayhap other connections, with other subjects, will be forthcoming.

The important thing is to get people thinking, and talking about, such matters. As they Left used to say during the early AIDS scares, silence=death.

the U.S. government "has made no determination regarding the authenticity of the documents, validity or factual accuracy of the information contained therein, or the quality of any translations, when available."

I wonder if the US Government made this statement on the Nazi documents captured in WWII?

Also it is a fact that the MSM did NOT SPIN the Nazi docs found to either dispute their authenticity or whether the docs were FACTUAL!!

Yeah, I heard Rush mention it as well. I did hear Rush mention it before - maybe last week - too. On occasion I think Rush brings it up when it's warranted, but not nearly as much as it could be.
