President Bush needs a press secretary who will toss them out, or shut down the conference when they act like that.
Amen. There are too many children and not enough adults in that room and I thought the Bush administration was all about "the adults are back in charge."
To: SuziQ
Scott really needs to tell them that's he's leaving until they all get a BDG (Big Damn Grip), and when they've done so, he'll come BACK in a talk to them as if they were sane people!
Make all of the "correspondents" sit in their little chairs - one minute of silence for each year of age they are.
To: hummingbird
Exactly. I respect McClellen for going out there every day, and he puts up with a lot of abuse. That said, the press room needs someone tougher. Someone who won't put up with the abuse. I have felt it did from the beginning.

Ditto !
Scott is obviously overwhelmed by the "bright" press folks in the room and doesn't take command.

what difference does that make at this point. its time to try something new, having McClellan go into there and flame out every day, isn't working.
To: gidget7
The "press" has gotten away with their unprofessional, combat-style attacks for so long that now they think they are entitled to behave like this. They are emboldened enough to continue.
The first correspondent that gets tossed will have them all screaming that they are being mistreated and that this administration is the "first ever to "blah, blah, blah..."
To: sanjacjake
You're absolutely right, Jake!
GOOD to see you. dear FRiend and cherished Vet!

What does he think we only began to fight in Iraq just recently when the media's rigged polls started showing a drop for Bush? Speaking of rigged polls, wonder why a right leaning organization does not commission a poll that oversamples, shall we say, suburban midwestern communities? If for no other reason, it would be entertaining to see the MSM explain how this poll is less valid that a popularity poll for a Republican President that samples people in line at the welfare office.

The White House should immediately stop televising these "press briefings". Then the press corp would have no cameras to play to and they wouldn't make themselves the object of that day's news. It's so easy and simple to do.
Act like children and be treated like children.

Yes they would. A better idea might be, as you said, to shut down the briefing, period, just leave and come back when it's time for the next. Tell them when you can do your jobs, instead of using the WH press briefing as your own personal activist platform, we can have a briefing.
The WH press secretary is there to brief the press, not for the press to beat up the WH.
